Amen, we need rain too. Any precip will be good, as we all know the snow will melt. I think I posted my first sled ride around the yard last year on October 20th! That was the earliest I had thrown a leg over. And loved every second. I was so excited, I could hardly speak to the camera!!

I’m going with conventional Yama lube for the boat and synthetic Yamalube for the Waverunners. I use 87 octane fuel in the boat and 93 in the skis already, so I treat the oil the same way. The order of my favorite toys is changing. All of them will get new iridiums soon as well. Just picked up the k & n oil filters.

Sounds good except the K&N oil filters…I’m not crumbing on you… IMHO those are the worst oil filters you can get. Can you return them ? Have a look on youtube about oil filter testing.

I’m pretty sure that these will not fit your motors but I got these from amazon for my boat, I’m sure you can find the correct oil filters on amazon for your craft.

I also bought these from Amsoil.

I spent 24 yrs in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic on A-10’s, F-15’s and F-22’s. Synthetic is the only way to go!

I saw 1 mention about water in the oil. This article claims the synthetic oil is more resistant to water induced breakdown than mineral oil. In a boat engine I think that is important.

Yeah but our motors arent temping at 600-900c, lubricating labrinth seals running 20k rpm. Other than that, we use all synthetics in rotor transmissions, gearboxes ect. Replacment intervals are anually or 300hrs. So they definatley have the resilience that aircraft componets need. I have stuck with the yahama lube. For me its easy, conveniently packaged, relatively cost effective and gets changed frequently enough im ok with it. BtW, Thank you for your service👍

So glad “our” jet experience has nothing to do with his “jet” experience. As they have nothing to do with each other. Yamaha gives the owner a choice for that very reason.

On counter point, running hot is not a bad thing it boils water out of the oil. Because our engines run well below 100c, they don't boil the water out of the oil and the oil will eventually become saturated. I will use synthetic oil because they can hold less water than mineral oils.

(Former) F-16 mechanic here - agree with the synthetic statement. So did you manage to stay engines the whole time or did APG/TAMS suck you in as one of them? I got into a bit of trouble as a young A1C on a Red Flag trip by mixing up the oil cart with the F-22 squadron parked behind us. Filled 8 jets with F-22 oil by mistake! Had to go up to engineering to sign off that they were good to fly and would operate fine. Good times!
