Technically, the actual product is ne

Why do they have so many plain clothes armed men there? Strange or common? I will admit that I'm not a college sports watcher.
I asked, she says security was not armed as far as she can tell. She's sure there were armed security but not in plain sight.
(and yes, she's home on winter break, that's why I get to see any of that, experience it vicariously, lol)

Anyway, she's getting ready for a round two tonight!

The first pic is what my local news said the average price of gas was last night for regular unleaded. I live between Oakland and San Jose. The second pic is from the gas station in my neighborhood and it was taken care tonight. Talk about price gouging without remorse or recourse! Would any of us to something else if we ran a big oil / petroleum corporation?

Live Webcam at Champlain Marina this morning in Malletts Bay. The storm is here.

And one of the Burlington waterfront. Still locked in with ice. Looking at the Spirit of Ethan Allen event cruise ship and the seasonal "Splash" restaurant/bar at the boathouse on the waterfront to the right. You have seen the other side from our boat and at the table.

One more...I was out in my sugarbush yesterday finishing up tapping and almost stumbled over this dead porcupine, it was still frozen. Glad the dogs were not here. No signs of the local Fisher cat killing it.

Think I'll pass on a used boiler. Seen too many with issues that are not listed and more of a PITA than they're worth.

I'm slowly accumulating material for the next boiler. Here's the start, an old 40' round propane tank that I'll be cutting down and using for the burn chamber.
I put in a indoor gasification wood boiler in 2010. Hooked it to a couple 500 gallon propane tanks for thermal storage. Sold the house last year and was planning to put in another or maybe a garn at the next house.

But the house we bought came with a fancy pellet boiler from Germany hooked to an auto feed hopper and bulk storage.

I’ve been watching pellet prices and was able to order 24 tons of pellets at $176 each. Which is equivalent to #2 oil at $1.50 a gallon or so…figure it’s not worth a wood boiler at this point. I should only need 6 tons of pellets a year. Less if I get a good wood stove.

Really wasn't expecting this today:

1647103293429.png

Good thing is we are stuck inside, packing up our apartment to move next weekend. More good news is that the new house (after a year) is almost done, as the only thing pending is a repair to the concrete garage apron and laying the driveway (hopefully, next week!) Bad news is that we probably won't move into the house for another 2 - 3 weeks. Thank goodness for Hilton points!

Is the Parker in the water for sea trials? Or, on the hard in a dealer lot?
The Parker is at the dealer for 100hr service. And am I glad she's not in the water here right now...! we have had snow and freezing rain w/ hurricane strength winds blowing across the NY bight the last couple days. Just looking at windy.com's scary:
EDIT: current situation, it was actually significantly worse last night
1647186545130.png

The dealer is trying to convince me to sell, apparently has people giving him money to see the boat, no joke. I have wanted to delay until we take the delivery of Edgewater which will be another month, at least. We closed last week so we own the 280cx (!), but I have never been in one on the water; I don't expect to be disappointed but you never know; boat market like the current one does not come around too often, and the Parker is a solid boat for us at half the price of the 280cx.

It's nuts, most 2022 popular boats are already sold out, and the used market seems to be mostly project boats right now.

Meanwhile, a new Edgewater 280cx I finally got to see at the Atlantic City boat show had a list price of... 420k. And, sadly, showed some "covid features", on top of the insane price tag; cost cutting apparently effecting all manufacturers. Bottom line, us managing to lock into a three year old vessel, nicely equipped, at a little over half the new price seems like it was pure luck in this market.

Come spring, I know I will still have the AR240, and fairly certain we will still have the Edgewater 280cx; in which case the Parker 2320 will need to go...😢

WAIT! Have I got a deal for you!!! LOL. Our old boiler, natural draft, developed a leak/crack in the S.S. The company in Canada went bankrupt before we could file a warranty clain. Next time you are in this neck of the woods picking up a fire truck, you can take this with you, free, I will be scrapping it soon. Been sitting there 10 years.

Bringing diesel out to the pump shed for the heater. Following one of two ancient town roads, given up by the Town, on our property that leads to one of the five cellar holes still visible on the property. The roads were most active before the civil war and later grew over as the small farms were bought up and consolidated into one property around the 1920's. I just drove by the remnants of an old sugar house at one of those cellar holes. Rusted steel sap buckets are everywhere. circa 1870's based on land records

I keep some really nice trails out in the woods.

20220315_073033.jpg

A stack of old rusted out sap bucket lay in the snow at the ruins of that old sugarhouse.
