Hey jetboat gurus, I'm looking to buy this 2013 SX192 with just 74hr.

It's been on sale without moving at least for 6 months.
Sold by marina, consignment for their customer.

I think the price is reasonable, CAD$25,995 (down from $32K that was their initial price).

The question is - is it a good choice? I've briefly checked that boat in person, it gives the general "old age, low usage" vibe. The aftermarket mooring cover started to fail, and the snap on carpets inside were wet when I was there. Jelcoat on the surfaces facing the sun faded, stickers partially fell off but otherwise the hull looked pretty smooth. Not much wear on the rear anode (no saltwater exposure).

I'm not sure how much wood do these boats have, and what to look for. Would water seeping through old mooring cover cause any serious rotting damage to Yamaha hull?

I'm definitely not buying it without the river trial but with temperature dropping below freezing overnight it might be tricky. If I manage to do it, what to look for? If the engine revs over 7500rpm (and does not make any funny sounds) - does it mean it's safe to buy it?

I would've preferred a naturally aspirated 1.9 HO engine but those boats are new and way more expensive. Is the newer boat worth over 2x price increase?

A new ar190 which has the 1.9l motor wont have the power of the 192. The new NA engine in a 190 is adequate but no rocket ship. Being said 25k Canadian dollars for a 13 year old single engine ar192 regardless of hours is still a little high in the current market and in the cusp of winter.

Just a little fyi some parts are discontinued and impossible to find like the gauges and some other things so take that into consideration because aftermarket components wont work in its place

Thanks!
Actually gauges are a pro in my books - I've heard 4.3" Connext on newer boats sometimes fails/delaminates and if that happens outside ridiculously short 1 yr warranty it's $3K+ expense for the silly screen from 15 years ago phone era...

What you are not understanding by my response is you cannot just replace a factory yamaha gauge with an aftermarket one,
If it fails you will have to data or warning lights, etc.
Just take that into consideration. I love all my Yamaha toys but i am disappointed with Yamaha for discontinuing parts way to early and have no aftermarket replacements

Very valid concern, thanks!
In ideal world the proprietary canbus and NMEA communication protocols should have been banned. But it is what it is...

Otherwise no concern for SHO engines? There was something about timing chain on 2015 models but I'm not sure how bad or widespread it was.

Any chain can fail, its happened outside of the 2014/2015 years but its not as widespread as you might hear. Out of the high number of production of the waverunner and boats you will only hear of the ones that failed. But not that there are multiple thousands that are still going strong.

Or at the very least, release the data so that an aftermarket company can produce the old gauges… personally I think Yamaha should be required to produce spares as needed for at least 20 years.

I agree 100%
