Seakeeper Ride software update.

I updated my Ride software to 2025.12.0 and started getting EPE fault - code 553
Trouble shooting guide said:
Likely Reason: GPS accuracy low.
Solution: Ensure proper mounting of GPS puck and clear line of sight to the sky.
Select alternate GPS source or replace faulty GPS source.

From the Product Version 2025.12.0 Release notes:

• Improved fault detection for GPS signal and SM mounting issues
• Garmin/Seakeeper Ride compatibility adjustments for fault signal handling

Prior to latest (2025.12.0) update GPS was accurate enough.
Contacted Seakeeper they sent me 2025.12.2.
Problem solved!
If you are having this problem, contact Seakeeper support and request 2025.12.2.

Do you think the seakeeper ride is worth it? I don’t have a jet boat anymore but this is an upgrade I’ve been considering. I have a regal 29 OBX and have heard good things about the ride system. Hoping to get a sea trial once the weather breaks

A sea trial in rough weather will show you how good they really are.
The eye opener for me was in a cross wind. When they are active the wheel is turned to counter the wind, but the boat rides level. When they are deactivated, the wheel is still turned, but the boat heels into over into the wind.

Simply put, this system is amazing.
I did the install myself. I will say it's pretty involved. I'm not one to document my projects like some folks here do. So sorry about that. It took me about 6 days of working on it.
It was challenging because I'm in Baja with limited supplies.
I had planned on taking the boat up to Dan Diego to have them installed, but when I serviced my trailer for the 1200 mile round trip I found too many issues with bearings and brakes to move ahead with that plan.
So, I bought the system and supplies from West Coast Marine and brought it back down.

There’s also the videos that Will Owen of Jet Boat Pilot made with a 25’ FSH owner who had JBP install the system, and then a sea trial running in some decent chop turning the system on and off, very stark differences.

There’s times I wish I wasn’t a tightwad and had gone for Seakeeper instead of tabs.

I installed Lectro tabs first on my 2024 252 FSH and then decided to install the SKR system myself at home. They arent even in the same league. Saved a bunch of money as well.

Any boat will hit a limit of what it can handle comfortably. The SKR system reacts so fast its crazy. Here is my FSH heading out into the gulf. Its a pricey install if you have someone install it. I was able to install myself at home and saved thousands. But yes it is 100% worth it.

I updated my Ride to seakeeper-ridesm-2026.4.0 and it's throwing the same error.
I emailed them requesting another fix.

Seakeeper customer support is FANTASTIC.
The problem was caused by my Garmin GPS position accuracy. Seakeeper sent me an external GPS antenna for free. Position accuracy problem solved. No more EPE caused faults.

Was that because the internal gps antenna of the Garmin was not up to par and the external antenna fixed it?

The EPE for the internal antenna is about 10'.
The External antenna is at less than 3'.
I don't know why Seakeeper needs such a low EPE. But, at this point idc. It works.
