I'm new to this forum, and have enjoyed all the awesome feedback provided! I currently have a deposit on a 2021 AR250 and should be here within the next 5 weeks. Near me there is also a used 2016 242x for about $5k more than the AR250. Is it worth the extra money or am I better off waiting for the AR250?

I'm new to jet boating so I'm not 100% sure on features and fit/finish.

Any advise would be appreciated!

5k more than OTD price on the 250? I would go 250, while the 242 offers surfing capabilities - you are talking a 5 year old boat. If you plan to try to wake/surf all the time then maybe, but otherthise no.

Thanks! I felt the same, but wasn’t 100% sure if there was some major thing I was missing. I plan on trying wakeboarding, but mostly just tubing the kids around.

Yeah in that case 100% AR250.

Agreed! Go with the AR250!

AR250 hands down

AR250 for sure and mod that boat for what you like to do . In the long run you will most likely make out better with resale as well .

I concur with everyone else, if it was me I would take the AR250.

Thanks for all the replies. Delivery date of the AR250 is my only concern. I’m going to talk with the dealer on Monday to make sure we are still on schedule.

That is the tricky part, Until that boat shows up on the lot, I would take anything a dealer says with a grain of salt.

I’d be curious to know what they say. Yamaha just announced they’d be canceling more orders but I think those were the 19ft boats. Worse case maybe you get a 2022 maybe by August.

I got an update from my dealer. Thanks again for everyone's input. They did receive letters with cancellations, but my boat wasn't one of them. It's actually being shipped now and the order was updated with VIN. So delivery should be the week of May 31st!

My dealer told me around 10% were cancelled for orders placed.

Congrats! You made a good choice!

Congrats and go over it with a fine tooth comb as lots of these new boats are delivered with all kinds of problems (water intrusion, things not tightened etc.) Congrats and have a great summer on the water. First mod is a Stoltz bow roller for trailer as stock one damages paint bad.

Thanks! Yah I plan on going through it and absolutely will change out the rollers! It will be at an in/out service. So I won’t use the trailer too much. But its a reasonable price for Stoltz.

I ordered my Cobra Fins already as well. Then a stereo update.

Boat? Pics? Did it deliver?

I got it about 2 weeks ago. Break in done, and 10 hr service complete! It’s been great so far. I’m going to fix the anchor locker drain, and unfortunately put a gouge in the rub rail while launching :(. My wife wasn’t expecting it to come off the trailer as heavy as it did.

We came from a tritoon, this boat is way more fun!
