I did my oil change yesterday. I only managed to get 2.5 quarts out. After reading here, it seems most get 3.5 quarts out of the 1.9L engine. At this point, should I buy more oil and redo it or send it and forget it?

I don’t know about the 1.8 or 1.9L engine but on the TR-1 there are two places to draw oil from, the main fill tube / dipstick tube and a dedicated oil removal hose. What does your manual say?

Sometimes you have to fiddle with the suction hose a bit to get it down into the removal area further.

If it was me, I’d get more oil and another filter and do it over, you’ve still got 30% of your used oil in the engine.

For oil changes - make sure you warm up the engine completely and make sure you keep prodding your suction hose down the dipstick. Helps to lower the trailer tongue too, to ensure oil is running back towards the dipstick. Just make sure you level it out when you refill with oil and check levels.

I warmed it up for 6 minutes on the button. I guess I'll be doing this over again, thanks.

Again, don’t know about the 1.8 or 1.9 engines, but look for a dedicated oil change tube.

Smart move to do it over.. its an experience you will not have to repeat. I checked your manual and could not find an oil extraction tube, nor does it say how to change the oil.

Get yourself a shop / service manual they are of great help.

I appreciate the help. I owned a TR-1 in my waverunner so I was familiar with two different ports, but doesn't appear to be the same with this 1.9. I'll grab a shop manual as well.

Thanks. That wasn't out when I first bought my boat.
You are welcome! It usually take a while to get them out to the public and the dealers..

Which motor do you have? The 1.8 or the 1.9?
