Hello everyone. I had a quick question/favor to ask. I’ve had a sx190 for 5 years or so but recently sold it and bought a 2019 limited s. I bought the boat without a trailer and purchased a new trailer for a local NJ Yamaha dealer from someone that didn’t need it. The trailer has is from a new model 255 boat. I think the axles on the trailer are setup differently because the tounge weight seems very excessive. Can someone measure the distance from the end of trailer frame to the first U bolt holding the axle onto frame? Specifically on a 240 or 242 model ‘15-‘20.
My rear axle is behind the middle cross member and by looking at pics from other 2019s the axle looks to be in front of the cross member. I figured the trailers were the same and didn’t research much before buying it.

Thanks in advance. Can’t wait to get this new boat out on the water!

I’m pretty sure the tongue weight is supposed to be 7-8% of the total weight of the boat and trailer. You’re probably going to have to take it to a CAT scale and get the weight of the trailer by itself then check the tongue weight. The tongue weight is adjusted by moving the axle truck forward or backward to adjust the tongue weight.

Yeah that sounds about right. I need to figure out way to determine tounge weight. Probably should have checked out the trailer more to
make sure they were same.

Knowing the trailer weight won't help. You need to determine the center of gravity of the boat and put that point slightly ahead of the center of the axles. SO, how to determine the CG of the boat? I would play around with the boat & trailer some day when the ramp isn't busy. Back the boat into the water and try to move it fore & aft on the trailer and see if you can determine the point where it 'tips' at the back of the bunk rails. With a boat that heavy, it won't be easy to do, and you will have to play with how deep you put the trailer in the water, too. Keep in mind that the CG of the boat is pretty far aft.

Mark the CG on the boat with a piece of tape. Measure from there to the bow eye. Measure that distance from the trailer bow stop back to the axles and mark the trailer frame with a piece of tape. Adjust your axles to be centered a few inches behind this mark.

If you're able to do this, I think it will get you fairly close, but you'll have to actually drive it and see how it handles.

I might buy one of those devices to get it sorted out. Thanks for the info guys.
Also, trying to get in touch with shorelander to see if they can provide the dimensional difference between the two trailers.

measurements off my setup from a 2019 ar240..,
from rear end of trailer frame to first u-bolt is 51-5/8"
from rear end of trailer frame to rear of middle cross member is 52-1/2"

the rear u-bolt is almost touching the rear of the middle cross member which puts my rear axle just in front of the middle cross member...see pic

model number from the new trailer? mine came on a YAV50TNLWMSO/2NLWMSO

let me know if you need others

Thanks so much for getting the dimension and pics. My axle setup is definitely about 10-12" further back than this. boat 1.jpgboat 2.jpgboat 3.jpg

Picked up a scale on Amazon to measure tounge weight. Measured 375#. Going to keep as is for now. Felt very tounge heavy compared to my sx190, but seems to be within the 5-7% range.
