So I've been off the forum lately, madly working on another project. I figured it was time for an update for those interested @Bruce @Andy S and @justason

This project is about a month away from being transported to the airport, maybe 6 months from taking to the skies! [USERGROUP=14]@Bimini[/USERGROUP] by air in 2019 is a sure thing!

My favorite highlight pic so far...

Wait, u like... building it?

WOW. I can swear I remember you showing pics when you first started, didnt you? I thought I remembered seeing a plane being built in a living room at that point.

Exactly right.
Doooood that's nuts! No way would i fly in my own creation!
What kinda plane? Plans? Kit?
My parents just bought a house from a guy that made airplane parts. All the hallways in the house are extra wide so the guy could bring out wing sections. Tons of equipment in the basement. I mean, a lot of houses have 200 amp service but my parents have two seperate 400(? I remember it was a lot more than 200!) Breaker boxes and leftover parts of air comprssors and vaccum devices etc. I can only imagine!

I did a post on the project quite a while ago, and since much progress has been made recently, I figured I'd post an update. The pics in the living room was just for riveting on the bottom skins of the wings (it's cold in WI in December!) The rest of the build has taken place in the garage.

This is an RV7, a two seat hot rod. It's built from a kit, but has many modifications and personal touches. It cruises around 200 mph and a range of about 1000 miles.

I have been following @upperdeck progress for a while it been extremely impressive.

Wow, @upperdeck , this is insanely impressive! Thank you for sharing.

Looking at the work you are doing, I would think your plane may be safer than some major airlines!

Very nice work @upperdeck. I'm looking forward to getting buzzed by you as I boat over to Bimini in 2019.

Super cool and impressive. Are you a pilot or an engineer for your day job? I have to follow this and be safe

@upperdeck , very wise of you to mention that it only has 2 seats, otherwise, you'd have the whole forum trying to hitch a ride with you to Bimini!o_O
Nice job!

That’s awesome. I was pretty far into a whittman tailwind at one point. Then life changed.

I know what you mean, this has been one serious lesson in perseverance. It's been over five years since I've started. A lot of people complete these much faster, many much much slower. Mine will fly when it flies...

Eyes in the sky for the crossing ! Very thoughtful if you upperdeck ;)

@Amar Nanduri you should stay off that blog or you will end up buying an airplane by end of the decade
