Battery Issue - Suspect Bad Amp? Er, no. Battery.

Two NorthStars appeared on the doorstep on Sunday. Packed, oddly enough, in cardboard boxes. With a little paper as 'filler'. You may let your mind wander as to the condition of the boxes and filler paper on arrival... Surprisingly, though, everything was in good shape.

Ran up and installed them tonight. They were pretty low when shipped, apparently. 11.9 when I installed them. I put the charger on and cleaned some things up. After 10 or 15 minutes, had to try them out. Turned on the boat. 12.4v. Turned on stereo, radio, fishfinder: 12.4v. Then 12.3 for a second. Then 12.4. And stayed there for as long as I had it on. Already a marked difference. I believe my problem is solved.

But I don't want to damage my nice new batteries, so I shut them off and left them to the fancy charger to bring them up to par. And yes, I did remember to set the charger for AGM's. :)

Fantastic!
Odd about the packaging. Mine came in boxes with about 4” thick of expandable foam all around them. Battery was totally encased. Took me 20 min on each one to dig the battery out of the foam. Was a real pia but better than having it damaged.
