The admiral likes to sit in the port rear seat while underway in a heavy chop to help alleviate some of the pounding. Of course the Trim Tabs I am installing will help. The problem is the wind hits you pretty good in the face, even with the center walkway closed. Coming from over the Port side window shield.

Has anyone come up with an easy mod or way to deflect some of that or minimize it? I looked around and didn't see much. Was thinking maybe a clip on which would be about a foot or so higher.

I think the clip on extension may be your only option. One thing to consider is the backdraft that is going to happen or already happening. There's not much your going to do about that unless you get a different boat with a cabin like Swatski

Maybe cheaper just to find a new Admiral ;) shhh......

You could have an Isinglass windshield made to connect the bimini to the existing windshield. You could also have side curtains made. This would also help during pop up rain storms. @Julian did this with his previous boat. Easy to do for a canvas shop. This is still cheaper than finding a new Admiral. LOL.

That would be the most expensive boating decision you ever make....LOL.....just remember the biggest boats in the marina belong to divorce lawyers.

She doesn't like the wind in her face? I'm sorry, she knows she's going boating, right? I think it's cheaper to just have her sit closer to the windshield.

Or you could buy my boat and she'd have a nice chair for herself. Either option is less expensive than a divorce. :)

@anmut She has some medical issues with her back and neck so when we are out on the big water and the wind starts kicking up it gets rough, she will slide to the back seat of course which is the most comfortable in the heavy chop. One of the primary reasons I got the trim tabs, which should be here today was to even that out. It's not an issue all the time, but when we are a long ways away it makes her uncomfortable. In the inland lakes it is never an issue. In all seriousness, just trying to think up ideas to make it better for her is all. It bothers me when we come in and she feels pretty beat up. We aren't getting any younger

I know @swatski dislikes Isinglass curtains, but I bet he comes around in a year or two and has a bimini and some curtains made for the Parker's aft deck. We will see him out fishing all Winter then. ??❄

I'm guessing he upgrades to something more like this to tackle the wind and spray. Pretty sure it should be able to handle about anything he throws at it.

@HangOutdoors The clear vinyl on our dodger and the side curtains are isinglass sewn into Sunbrella material.

That's totally legit - trim tabs will for sure help ride quality. One thing you could experiment with would be some sort of disrupter BEFORE the windshield? Thinking of something you could lay on the port side seat...

Also, once you clean up ride quality with the tabs, if she sits with her back to the port side helm, that pretty much clears up the issue.

Fair point! Probably should stop cyphering a solution till I can get out on the water with the Trim Tabs and see where the ride quality is.

Cheap work-around for now until you can perform boat mods. I’d get this and stow it secretly, then whip it out and put it on her next time she takes her seat.
Prerequisite - Admiral must have good sense of humor:cool:
