I like using cap style oil filter wrenches and took a little doing to find one for my 1.8s. Maybe I missed it but I couldn’t find one shown around here. I have a drawer full of them but none of them were quite right. The 73mm 14 flute wrench in the picture is perfect. 74mm would not get the filters off for me. It’s a pretty tight space and I like being able to use the cap wrench to tighten without crimping filter. The adjustable wrench pictured works too, and is best adjustable I’ve used but I like the cap style. It also means I can only count on using it with OE filters and I’m OK with that too.

I had never used the cap style filter wrench before I owned my boat, I find them to be very useful on my boat both for removal and installation.
