Do you wear a (boating) hat!

I have Tilley Airflow that is 10-15 years old.
I like it a lot, until you are up to planing speed. The front brim flops a lot into my eyes.
I’m not convinced I would spend its new $90 price tag.

I’ve always had really good luck with Columbia products, so I went with this. Vented, lightweight, not too out of date lol. The little one there has a better setup but I get everything dirty so white is a non-starter lol.
Baby is adorable. Great picture.

Tilley Airflo all the way. The LTM6 is exactly what I wear. They are sized so they fit properly and don't blow off. Enough brim to keep the sun off but doesn't flop around too much when going fast. It does float. Made in Canada too! Definitely worth the price.

Picked mine up at REI 10 years ago and it's still going strong. I pitch it in the washing machine every few weeks to get the sweat smell out and it's good to go.

Try to find them locally so you can try different sizes. They will stretch a little so you want it snug in the store.
Yeah, from what I'm reading (online), people that have them really like them. Did not know you could put them in the wash. Good info.

IMO, this one may be one of the better "boating hats". Unfortunately it does not have much neck protection, but the on-board refreshment station should hopefully help keep you cool.
Definitely the best!!!

If I were to get a straw hat this would be the one. I like that a lot.

Here’s the ball cap I wear occasionally while on the water C69F3C6C-B1CE-4A13-92B2-7A7F82ABFB0D.jpeg

You can see what I use in my profile pic. I actually attach it to a roach clip which is on a string attached to my tower. I’ve lost too many hats before the roach clip idea.

Definitely not.

Meaning you don’t like it or doesn’t fall off?

Anything by Outdoor Research. Top quality and well designed:

I got a Shelta hat last year and have been happy with it. The brim is reinforced and keeps its shape while cruising. Great sun protection and decent style.

We wear hats and use sunscreen if we're going to be in the sun. Under the bimini, not so much.

Bucket hat that I wear

I can't wear it while underway unless I'm sitting below the windshield since there's no string. Looking to change it up this year, potentially, so I'm looking at the recommendations here.

Cancer runs in my family, and I have a few golf friends who have been scraped over the past few years, so I'm finally starting to get serious about my own protection.

I also started wearing the long sleeve performance fabric shirts for protection while boating, and I'm wishing I had done it a lot sooner - they keep me cool without having to "grease up". Neutrogena sunscreen in the deodorant stick format is awesome for any other bare spots.

I second this hat, this hat stands up to heavy wind and also looks good while I'm at the marina pool. It floats and is a great place to put a credit card when hitting a waterside restaurant/bar.

This was the one I was eyeballing from @Jerlane s post above. I've had a similar one with a wider brim that sucks when at speed - brim gets pushed down and blocks my vision.

This is a stiff/supported brim? No problems with it at speed?

No, watch the video on the website. You can keep it on at WOT.

I alway wear my Margheritaville hat. A little beat up but my favorite

Never been much of a hat person, but on occasion we'll sport a visor to keep the sun outta the eyes.

Unless your trolling you will need a hat with a strap! But there is nothing wrong with a baseball cap. The Navy have been using them for decades aboard ship. i just turn my bill around over 30 mph.

Some suggestions below.

Always wear a hat! And cover the ears too...Both the wife and I had a touch a skin cancer a couple of years ago.
