Engine Issue

I have my boat prepped for the start of the season - changed plugs, changed oil, tested and charged batteries, etc... Everything looks good. My gas is at 0% (on the trailer). My one engine will start (top key) but second engine (bottom key) wont turn over. Dumb question bit would one engine start when boat is low on gas or is it a different issue?

Get some gas in it and test this hypothesis

On a serious note, make sure your throttle is in neutral and all safety switches are good.

It cranks but doesn't turn over. I'm filling the boat on the way to the ramp later in the week. Maybe the dealer didnt reconnect the spark plugs? thanks for the feedback!

Ah I figured you did all the work, definitely worth checking their work. Check all the ignition coil plug connections and are seated well on the spark plugs!

try moving the throttle back and forth before cranking the starter in case the throttle positioning sensor is acting up

The problem is you are out of gas. Why is your tank at 0%?

To me, cranking = turning over both are synonymous with the electric starter motor actuating.

I had something similar happen one day, I purposely ran the tank down to 1% maybe zero because I wanted to know if the boat would still run at that level, Aka I wanted to know how much useable fuel was in the tank. I had my trolling motor to take me in if it quit. Tied up at the dock with both engines idling, the starboard engine quit running, bottom key, so I put it on the trailer with the port engine. Once on the trailer the starboard started again. When I went to the gas station it took 52 gallons to fill it, so accounting for the fuel in the fill line line I’d say 50-51 gallons are useable out of the 52 gallons.

I had a similar issue begin randomly as well. Found out that the auto-cut off switches under the latch covering the cleanout ports were faulty. They were not depressing properly. To test my hypothesis, I placed a folded piece of cardboard on top of the switches to make sure they were pressed down all the way and closed the latch. Starboard engine (bottom key) started right up. Going to bypass switches next time I work on boat.
