Holy Crap, I got a new BOAT!!!!

I Feel your pain about a long winter! I bought my new 2024 222SD Sept 19th, did a quick walk through when I closed on it, then right into storage. I’m counting the long days until mid April here in NY! BUT . I did save $5,000 on the final price at the time of sale.

Well, finally got the boat out of my barn (4 miles away)! I started to take care of a few things.

1 - Fixed anchor locker drain. Re-located the anchor hold-down latches to fit my anchor.
2 - Installed anchor assembly.
3 - Resealed transducer (very poorly installed from factory. would have leaked for sure).
4 - Mounted VHF radio.
The antenna mounting location has me baffled. I don't want to just slap the mount on the roof and add to the clearance ht.
How is everyone passing the antenna wire into the hardtop?
I'm assuming the random electrical plug laying behind the hardtop access cover is for the radio? Need to test it.
5 - Put on/took off the Yamaha factory cover. (very nice cover, but need 3 hands to install!)
I think, like others have said, my rear anti-pooling poles are messed up. Straps don't lay out right.
6 - Fixed the poorly angled mounts for the trailers ratchet straps.
7 - Adjusted many of the door latches.
8 - Drank my first beer on the boat......
9 - Vacuumed out all the crap from Yamaha assembly (found enough hardware to build another boat).
10 - Cleaned up first spilt beer....

Many more things to do today to get ready for the water. I will get some pics of what I have done.

I hope to take it out for the first time next week sometime!! Scared/Excited to get it in the water and start the break-in.

The Carlisle tires are usually what you hear about. If those are new I’d run them for a couple years before replacing. How far are you normally trailering? If not far I’d definitely run them.

Mine came with a Carlisle tires… looks like those are hecho en chino… and I do not see a R designation on the side wall,… I do see they were made in May of 2023.

Having run the Carlisle’s and the Goodyear endurance tires, I’d run these tires for a bit while you look around for maybe a Memorial Day sale on the Goodyears.. unless you just want to get it over with and move on.

@Babin Farms makes some good points there.. I trailer short and long distance… I ran my Carlisle’s until they went out of round and were shaking like mad.

If those tires are not balanced at the very least take them and get them balanced.

Welp, just performed the maiden voyage!! Great day! Had some small issues. Super hard starting for both engines, but finally got them both running. I assume it was because they haven't been started since assembly. And the Simrad/transducer refused to show water depth. It may be because I didn't set it up correctly (may start a new thread if this doesn't produce some fixes). Performed the correct break-in and even added some heat cycle (cool downs) in there. This thing is great!!! One thing I wanted to say,,, I have read here and in other sites that the Helm Master doesn't perform "crabbing" or side shift well, Wrong!! This thing walks to the side perfectly! You may need to correct your "yaw" every 10 - 12 feet, but it works GREAT! It's not going to move at 2-3 mph, but it shouldn't, it's for small maneuvers. And,,, It hauls A$$! 58mph! Love the engine sound. Sounds like power to me. On off trailer was like butter. No leaks. Very small amount of water in the clean out ports, and about a quart of water came out of the drain plug when back on the trailer. Happy camper!! AND,,, my wife didn't go with me, so, WIN, WIN in my book!! Don't tell her i said that....

When you say the engines were hard to start, do you mean they’d start but then quit running? What was the ambient air temp when you started them?

Sounds like you put about five or six hours on it today? 58 mph is moving right along !

Check your Simrad and make sure your transducer is enabled. If you mess around with the Simrad on the trailer and the transducer is on or pinging, I’d limit it to no more than 30 minutes lest the transducer get too hot. If you can find how to turn the transducer off then do that if you’re not in the water and you want to play around with the Simrad.
