We will be enjoying Lake Ouachita Sat. Sept. 22nd.

This is a "loosely" organized event and weather dependent but wanted everyone to know they are welcome to join us for an hour in the afternoon or to make a whole weekend of it.

About the only "scheduled" event will be campfire Saturday night at whatever island we are on otherwise we'll just be enjoying everyone's company and a day on the water.

I will probably get a hotel on Friday night near the lake
Saturday morning enjoy a nice diner breakfast before getting the boat in the water
We plan to camp on an island with my two daughters (13/16) Saturday night
and enjoy a breakfast at the resort sunday morning before heading home.

We'll have tubes, kneeboards, surfboards for fun.

Lake Ouachita is beautiful, large and clear lake. If you've never been it's worth the trip. More lake details can be found at the link at the top of the post.

I'm very hopeful we will actually make it this year!!! Really wanted to visit the Ouachita, looks like the stars may be aligning this year. Lets hope weather cooperates, but at least I should be able to make it w/ my 12 and 14oys, Kate is almost certainly not going to be able to make it, and Sandra (17) is likely a no. Too much going on!
But hey, if I can swing it with just Magda (14) and Gosia (12) - we will have a blast, they are good campers (Girl Scouts).

just a bump since @Betik is to busy trying to create new a new Greek Tragedy about his mother's casserole dish to follow this thread,

or maybe he needed to finish the last season of "True Blood"

idiot me, I was looking for it under Gatherings LOL

I'm so anti-social I saw destinations and thought it was a good place for it,

hmmmm.. if my kids dont have stuff for Friday night I may roll up there with one of my boats.

Just asked the wife, she said go.. so if Friday is free, I more than likely will show up..

{edit} we have a home football game, ill have to figure this out {edit}

I LOVE the simple plan! Sounds great, we will follow suit.

At this point it is a "go" for us (and I have two of my four kids committed and very excited to camp on the lake).
Short of anything unexpected - we are looking forward very much to seeing everyone Fri/Sat!

OK barring some work catastrophe, I will be there, where is everyone putting in? What hotel are yall staying at Friday night? I would like to use Hilton points if possible.

As far as I know Hilton is not big in that area. @Bruce can probably chime in the Mountain resort. @Rick215HO seemed very happy with his accommodations in June

Arkadelphia is only 30 miles away and on the way, I could spend the night there at a Hilton property and then come in early Saturday morning. I just reserved a room at the Hampton Inn in Arkadelphia for Friday Night.

There is a Hampton Inn and a Home2 Suites on the south side of Hot Springs that could be options for your points.

There are no chain hotels around Lake Ouachita.

Mountain Harbor has the nicest accommodations.

Crystal Springs has more affordable accommodations.

I would recommend staying at one of those two if you plan to launch on Friday. Otherwise stay at one of the hotels in Hot Springs and launch on Saturday.

so does everyone launch at Crystal Springs?

I do and this time around I am planing to steal the show during launch.
I bet we will provide entrainment for the jetboaters ( I bet the local fisherman will get a kick out it to).

we will have to set a time to meet up saturday morning..
