Sayings that have served you well

Here are a few of my favorites:
  • Buy once cry once
  • Feint heart never won fair lady
  • You Can’t Do Business Sitting on your Ars
  • The fool wonders the wise man asks
  • If you’re going through hell, keep going
  • A fool and his money are soon parted

Too my daughters and their dates when they were dating in high school and they were headed out the door - “don’t make a life don’t take a life.

I’m in sales so I use this one a lot - “pigs get fat but hogs get slaughtered”

“luck is the intersection of hard work, opportunity and perservierance”

Back from boxing and kickboxing and work related events..."hit early, hit often and hit hard"

The heart is deceitfully wicked.

Part of Jeremiah 17:9. When I think someone is doing something against me I remind myself that I am just being selfish and they probably don’t even realize they are inconveniencing or hurt others.

I do not like that man very much, I must get to know him better. - Abraham Lincoln
Reminds me that I don’t know the stories of others and it could change my view

Another one from Rush but not sure who said it originally - takers get the honey givers sing the blues.

When I was in the Navy I liked to say:
"men are like nails, if you don't hammer on them they fall over"
"The more you do, the more you do"
"never let'em know how much you know"
and most importantly, "better to ask for forgiveness than permission"

Back from boxing and kickboxing and work related events..."hit early, hit often and hit hard"
Reminds me of a saying my old high school football coach used to say to us; "If you're going to make a mistake, make it at 100mph"

Do what you have to, when you have to. Do it the best way you can, and do it that way every time.

After my father was diagnosed with cancer, his was "it is what it is"
Mine here as of late is "figure it out" seeing no one want to put forth the effort for anything or even think for themselves anymore.

I can relate to that...I've been teyong to teach my kids some trouble shooting skills but all i get is "this thing doesn't work, take it to the shop"

Time to lean, time to clean.

My whole adult life has been based on that. Served me well so far.

A few:

1- Always trust your gut, not your head or your heart. Your head can rationalize anything and when your heart is involved it’s all about emotion - your gut in rarely wrong.

2- In most cases, people in this world get exactly what they deserve. Lots of people want to play the victim card and blame everyone else for there problems. It’s your own decisions that usually chart your path in life - own them and own it.

3- When things are going well in your life slow down and enjoy your friends and family. Don’t spend all of the good times worrying about what stuff is ahead. Remember, life is not a destination - it’s a journey - so enjoy the ride when things are good.

“Work Hard Play Hard” is my wife’s and I motto we live by. Work hard but take lots of fun vacations and spend every weekend (almost) on the water in the summer.

My wife and I go by the mantra: She can have her right, so I can have my peace.

No amount of money ever makes up for a second of time.

Kind of realized this when we had our daughter a few years ago. I’d rather have family spend time with her and us than spend money on her.
