Scarab jet boat 2017 catalytic converter issues

According to the mechanic, I’m having problems with the catalytic converter because water is getting in, and the engine is shutting off after 10 minutes. Also, at full throttle it loses power and shows many codes on the computer. He tells me I can either remove it or repair it because new ones are no longer available. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Use the search engine on this site to search for solutions to your issue. I know I’ve seen threads on that issue here. Totally sucks scarab quite making the replacement parts.

Thank you , I am a little frustrated because the mechanic is charging me $3,5000 to rebuild the catalytic . He said Scarab are not longer making this part ..

Do you have to get it from Scarab? I mean, these engines are used by multiple boat builders. Maybe one of them would have it. Or maybe from BRP directly?

The engine is shutting off after 10 minutes?

Do you know what code number you are getting? It could just be a failed O2 sensor, Codes P0130, P0135, P0140, P0156, and P0162 are related to the O2 sensor. I have had to replace the my O2 sensors numerous times. When my boat was under warranty and I had the fault code I was told it was water in the catalytic converters but it was only a failed sensor. BRP had the dealer replace the exhaust with the newer style. I have a 2017 boat with 2014 and 2015 engines. Is your exhaust bare aluminum or black?

When I get the code I just change out the sensor and carry on. They are around $30 on EBay. You will need a O2 sensor socket (Harbor Freight). I would try changing the O2 sensor yourself and see what happens. Much less than $3500.
