Shelbyville, Illinois 2015

Booked Lithia a couple days ago for Thursday night through Sunday. Being from Dekalb, you ever travel out to the Mississippi River? We typically go out to Savanna every weekend. Great boating, nice beaches and very few other boats.

Bah, still trying to figure out what is going on with the whole Cumberland trip as well and trying to synchronize it all together before we book.
Apparently some of my Cumberland group thinks the poker run is going to be that week and doesn't want to go that week! I think it would be pretty awesome myself. It's not like you couldn't find a cove to hide from the waves and such in there. It's HUGE. Dwarf's Shelbyville and the water is very very clean as well. Hopefully have it figured out this week though! Probably camping, but possibly staying in the same cabin if they still have it if we have to split our trip.

We make the Mississippi trip 2 - 3 times per year. It is about 1:15 tow from my house. We put in in Savanah and head North. There is a nice area off the main channel that has a sand bar/beach to hang. This is always a good trip. Only problem is the wing dams, but I know where they are now and being propless is good.

We primarily hit Ottawa. We can be in the water in around 45 mins. Rock river occasionally but well have to look into savannah this year.

A great ride is Savannah to Dubuque. Only have to go through one set of locks in Bellvue which we have never had to wait more than twenty minutes for a barge to pass through. If you go a little further, Hawks marina just north of Dubuque is a fun place to stop. They always have something going on each weekend. @buckbuck also brought up another beach just south of Savannah to check out. Although it is several months away, I will try to put together a run from Savannah to Dubuque and back again. It would be a lot of fun with several boats!

Where do you put in Ottawa, north or south of the dam at Starved Rock? We took our old boat down there quite often because it was close. 45 minutes is much nicer drive than 1 1/2 hours to the big river.

You guys make it hard surviving winter, with all this talk about the best boating event of the year! ;)

Omg guys...
So what would you say if i came with 3-4 boats and 20-30 people? Some of my Cumberland group has family and friends in Shelbyville and they are talking about doing the same as me! All surfers and boarders and all good people. My obky concern is cost to our group for the dinner and stuff. Maybe someone pm ne what the thought would be cost wise for them to come down!

No objections here.

@Speedling - Bring them. The more the merrier! It would be nice if we had a number and a commitment early on in the planning phase. As you can imagine a 30 person swing makes a huge difference in costs of food and prizes (for our gracious sponsors).

South. Allen Park.

Getting best head count i can but it seems like it will be a later date that most would commit. I will keep you updated as much as possible!
