Some boating rules.. a bit of a rant here

So I have a similar question about taking friends out. We have had our Yamaha since last August. We have taken 6-7 different sets of friends out and some on more than one occasion. I have not asked for money to chip in for gas from them and so far not once have any of them offered. On one occasion, a friend asked us if we could take her parents out since they were in town visiting (and different offer $ gas). Is this common for others? Do you ask up front? I do have rules which most people follow (no shoes, no spray suntan lotion, byob, etc) so should I add another rule about gas money? I just find it odd that people don't offer, when I didn't have a boat I know that I always chipped in on gas.
I make sure everybody knows, understands and will follow the rules i lay out. If there's any sign i feel they're going to show up last minute and challenge me, i don't let them come. THANKFULLY, i have a small, tight group of friends and family. So i have only had this issue one time.

as for gas, i never take gas money. Not even from my parents. I chose to buy the boat, which means i chose to pay the running costs. Just a thing for me. I bought this thing as kind of a "I'm out of college and can do things on my own now" thing so i prefer to keep it that way. I always tell people, if they want to help, bring snacks and drinks.

Also, another reason i don't take gas money... I never want to be in the situation where someone pays for my gas, then pulls the "why cant we go tubing, i paid for the gas too"? when its too dangerous or conditions don't permit watersports.

I don't take gas money. I'll let them bring beers or food. Heck just the company is cool. I was gonna go out anyways.

“It’s illegal to accept gas money”…
…Snitches get stitches!!!
???

Can someone explain the dangers of spray sunblock?

I’m not a fan of it but never knew it could be harmful...

The chemicals in it can fade upholstery and the color of your gel coat.

My boat is unofficially named "Locuras" (translation: Madness) and this name was rightfully earned: people have crazy times here and they talk about it for years. So people are more than willing to donate to the cause with gas, money, beer, and food. The problem is, while I can get people in a party mood, not everyone knows how to drink responsibly and they exceed their limits. I really don't have a lot of rules, but the over-indulgence in alcohol is the golden rule that pisses me off when its broken. And sometimes a friend's guest will come and I need to remember to inform them of this golden rule "if you drink too much and become a safety issue for myself and others, then you will not be invited again."

EDIT: continuing on.. my experience is that women don't need this conversation because they already know drinking too much is a bad look. But guys come to my boat and drink heavily and then when I call them out on it it's many excuses: Its the sun. I didn't eat enough. It was hot. I shouldn't have drank liquor. And I tell them "No. You are responsible for ALL your actions. Just tell me 'sorry, im embarassed and I wont do it again"

Ask this question before you tell them that: "Why are you so aware of the additional issues now, but were so oblivious to them before you started drinking?".

Also add "you're offering me excuses after the fact. Children do that. Kids weren't allowed today".
