As a fellow AR230 owner (08) I can't tell you how bad an owner I am... but my boat has been a rock star for the past 10 or so years that I have neglected it.

And... I apologize as I think I might stray off topic a bit...

Don't get me wrong, as long as "I" was in control... maintenence, cleaning, and flushing was meticulous. It is the last ten years that I had it in dry storage at a local marina that she suffered. I caught them several times taking her straight off salt water to the rack in the barn. I caught it every time, but at best I know they gave minimum effort... 5 minutes vs. the hours I would spend in the driveway at home rinsing everything.

This last 18 months has been the worst, because it has been that long since I have even seen her. 😫

You will see from other threads what I have dealt with, but for me... all and all... I have not really had to put a ton of money in my '08 boat. Knock on wood... And, every minute on our boat has been worth every penny.

I will be spending a lot of time this year to overhaul the boat to as fresh as I can get it, download the data, and if someone wants it, it could be yours... but that will definitely be a new thread.

While it might seem a bit redundant for a 15 year old boat... I will document the process of the "Fluid Environment" overhaul for historical purposes for those that want to watch...

Cheers!
Ed

Completed those last finishing touches…
  1. Fixed bow light, put LED bulb in a couple of years ago, magically stopped working. Could get it to work no mater what I did. So put the incandescent back in, took some effort but got it to work. Fixture is crappy, I think I’ll buy a new one.
  2. Greased the intermediate bearings. The hoses were soft, especially starboard. I gave port two pumps and starboard three.
  3. Adjusted clean out hatch kill switches. Earlier this week I had a hard time starting the starboard engine (crank, no start). I thought maybe fuel or spark, after checking all the safety stuff, and then I was thinking about the “crunch” I heard when stepping on the cleanout hatch. If the switches are screwed down tight, they are too tall, so I backed them out a little, which made them loose, but with the hatch down they are depressed and no crunch when I step on the hatch. Most important of all, no problem starting either engine.
  4. Looked at bilge pump and said, “I don’t fit down there to clean the filter”.

Built new bunks yesterday. Changed the graphics for my ballast system this morning and on the water today. Its 38C (100F) here and the water is 75F. Cam.
What kind of carpet did you use for them? Mine will need replacing within a year or so... Just curious.

2015 SX190. I took out the crappy light, thin foam in the engine hatch. I had to use acetone to get off the residual glue and only a little scraping of the stuck on foam. It came off quite easily.

Then I installed KilMat-style sound deadener and another layer of deadener that has a foam layer (links below). Did the same for the fuel tank hatch. It's a noticeable difference, but I'm now noticing a lot of sound comes through the sides. It's not coming through the engine hatch area. There are LOTS of holes and gaps between the fiberglass and the thin, crappy carpeted wood that "enclose" the engine hatch from the sides.

Sound deadener with foil: https://amzn.to/45wFHA9
Sound deadener with foam layer: https://amzn.to/3WFL647

Has anyone done anything to seal the engine area a little better? The wood is not attached to the fiberglass at the top and moves around pretty easily if you push on it.

Not the boat but trailer. I’ve had brake lights and turn signals but no marker/tail lights so I figured I’d see what was going on. Started be rewiring the lead for the lights and also installed a RV 7way connector. After checking a few things out I found that I was not getting a good enough ground through the swing away tongue so I ran a wire from it to the main frame and everything works as it should now.

My kid had a cold today so I got to finish up some things on the boat instead of taking it out. Put in positive and negative distribution blocks, got the 2nd bilge installed (Sahara 750) and a Rule high water alarm. I installed the high water alarm float right next to the factory bilge on the floor in between the 2 engines. Forgot a picture of that. The actual alarm I mounted right below the throttles cause I had easy access through the tray right next to it. 43570BE9-BFC0-45F1-A182-3B5878F8528B.jpegE6270F0A-C077-4DD8-A463-1C6C68A73767.jpeg80A06520-2DAE-44F3-913D-7225FFDB7EA6.jpeg

Installed the Jewls Custom umbrella holder and tried it out using a Sportzbrella. Drilled a hole through the umbrella pole to line up the lock pin on the holder. Should hold up pretty good. The umbrella can be rotated and/or tilted without removing it from the holder. Can move it inside as well. May need a smaller umbrella for inside. IMG_3781.jpg

After all the winter projects my interior was pretty dirty. Even though I didn't have shoes in the boat still got pretty dirty having tools and crap in and out of there. Finally all done and now just need to use my boat. Also put the racks back on, and put the mooring cover on.

Changed the plugs to start the season. My engines have been running a little rough so I'm chasing down the issue currently, I swapped these late in the season last year so not many hours on them. The wetness is mostly fogging oil. Oddly enough cyl 1 on both engines looks lovely but it gets progressively worse working back. What do you guys think?

Got a new custom cover from All American Canvas, don't think I will ever buy a Yamaha cover again.

Looks to be thick and high quality but the fit isn't as good. That trailer though

The fitment is a little loose on purpose, the Sunbrella Acrylic material does shrink over time so this is to prevent issues down the line.
