Thoughts and demo rides of wake / towsports boats: Moomba Max, Axis A22, MB Sports

The Moomba site is for sure a bit quieter (then here per say), but will pick up a bit soon. Yes, I know what you mean about the threads showing only current day, kind of irritating.

My favorite is the pictures of the month thread...

I have the same user name as here..

I am a bit sad we aren’t buying a Moomba this time as I love that forum, but this one is darn good to! ;)

I did 550+ miles on them today and they were great! Even helped me avoid a stupid deer trying to mount my truck at 80 mph lol. Super quiet, smooth and great looks. Hopefully good lifespan from them for being a high perf truck tire.
I am only expecting 35k out of mine. They have gotten stickier as the weather has gotten warmer like most. I was traveling in a place I did not know and was in the wrong lane with no one behind me. I slammed it in reverse on a wet road and lit them up momentarily before they hooked but once they did wow.

Got more pics today and looks like the boat is done! Hoping my dealer can get it to them within a week or so. I’d really love to sign the papers before the 15th to save from having to make another payment to Yamaha. Fingers crossed!! Seeing everyone on here start posting pics of their boats coming out of winter hibernation hasn’t been easy for me to look at since I’ve been boatless this year lol. Normally I would have been on the water a good bit by now so I’m real anxious to get back out on the water! Boat came out better than I had hoped and can’t wait to share some pics and vids when it’s delivered!

Happened across an old thread that you posted in two years ago where you admired a similarly colored blue supra. You have had the dream for a long time and soon enough you will be able to relish fulfilling it.

....... able to relish fulfilling it.......

For some reason I read this as "really hate fueling it".......Which is clearly not what you said, but at some level probably true.

I'm also very curious to see how the color scheme turned out. @haknslash will they let you post any pictures from inside the factory? Do you think you've gotten this level of access because of your activity on social media, or is this a "anyone who buys can do it" sort of thing?

Anyone can take the tour. In fact Drew Tinker of Skiers Choice (he’s the regional sales rep and son of one of the company founder’s/CEO) told me to let people know on social media that they encourage people to come visit the plant and see how the boats are built. It was such a good trip and answered a lot of questions I had about the construction aspect. I can’t share any pics I’ve been given of the plant because they don’t want people or competitors seeing the materials, technology or other things they use. Some of the material I saw were proprietary and very cool, so they want to protect their investment. We do the same at my work out in the plant so I can understand their reasoning. I REALLY wished I could post some pics of the boat because it came out really good although I’m biased lol. I was told multiple times though by Skiers Choice and my dealer to please not share any pics of specific details from inside the plant.

I totally get not sharing those pictures. No worries there, and honestly I would expect nothing less. If they're willing to share those pics, that means they aren't doing anything the competition isn't, which means a stagnant business.

I'll be following along to see the "reveal" pictures.

Designing and making a custom LED backlit emblem for my Max. 3D concept...

Nice render - make us some Yamaha ones!

I could look into designing a Yamaha version one day. Going to 3D print one on Monday and see how it will look with the LED’s inside it.

I bet a CNC'd Acrylic would look pretty awesome. Flame/vapor polish some edges, and leave other edges raw machined?!?!?!

I have a clear resin that looks like clear acrylic but I’ll probably print these using a translucent blue tough material. I need to see how the material will hold up outdoor long term being that it cures with UV light. Paint should help but need to test it first.

Are you using a Form 1 (or whatever version they are on now)?!?! I had some of the white and some of the clear resin from those sit in my window sill at work for a few months. They both yellow'd pretty badly. Paint would obviously hide that, and since it's a 3D print you could theoretically replace it once a season :D

Yes I still have the Form1+ and I also have some yellowed parts :D. I’ll for sure paint them to prevent that but I’m not sure how they will hold up over time. I’ve had good success using three tough material outdoors for a buddies tripod plate I made him. I’m planning on upgrading to the new Form 3 XL or whatever their new large printer is called but it’s not shopping until Q4. We may go with the MarkForged as well as it makes really strong parts and we’ve been impressed with some parts we’ve had made with one.

Woohooo she has arrived!! It’s storming off and on so they will unwrap and prep next week. The wheel swap I got worked in with Boatmate looks like it should match my trucks wheels pretty good! Going to swing by today and touch it lol.

It's going to be beautiful and I bet you are going to have such a fun summer surfing and wakeboarding behind that boat! BTW - nice job not going for oversized wheels and low profile tires. The full profile tires will tow soooo much smoother than some of these blinged out trailers I see around the lake.

Thanks man, I can't wait to get it out on the water! I thought about the same when I was contemplating going with larger wheels and paying extra for them but I agree it should ride a lot smoother with the larger sidewall. What I found interesting today is apparently a typo on the Moomba site. They list the Max comes with 15" wheels but mine are 14" X 6". I thought there was a mixup at Boatmate but after checking the other Max on the lot and asking other Max owners they do indeed come with 14" wheels on 205/75R14 Westlake Super ST radial tires. No bias ply here :D! I guess that is a typo on Moomba's site and I'm sure the Boatmate guys know how to design a trailer for a boat so I'm cool with it. They blend in better with my trucks wheels than the stock 5-stars they normally come with.

I can't decide if that looks like a boat or a Sherman Tank under the shrink wrap. ;)

@MattFX4 Something tells me that might be a tight fit in the garage :D. I see that cover uses the hang tyte system as well. I LOVE mine and I have never had a boat with hang tyte but I will never look back moving forward. Not having to deal with the anti pooling poles back there is so awesome being able to ratchet the cover up. My cover has an adjustable height anti-pooling pole for the bow but thankfully uses a simple snap on the top of the pole so that it snaps into the cover and stays in place. No having to run ropes or belts over to the cleats and then hope it stays centered!

Yesterday was the first time we used the sliding rear seat and the kids loved it!! I kind of wished I had splurged on my build and got the matching backrest but oh well that would just be one more thing to stow when not in use. Anyone out looking at these boats I would try to find one with some sort of "convertible" seating. I think most of the v drive mfg's have sliding rear seats by now and I love that it gives you seating options (and easy access to the v drive).
