Just stopped on our trip north, have a 50f difference in temp on the rotors between driver and passenger side brakes. 170 to 150. Just got off highway, anything to obsess about over the weekend or should I have a beer and relax?

are you measuring the wheel hub ? Thats the area that is important

Is the hot side facing the sun ?

Did you apply the brakes a lot when getting off the highway?

The rotor could be hotter due to how the fluid is applied to the brake calipers its probably only equal with a perfect bleed I would bet the hot side is on the feed line from the brake master cylinder.

Have a beer and relax

NO, nothing to obsess about. A 20° difference is small.

I assume what you said there was drivers side was 170, passenger side 150, correct?

Ambient air temp and as @Cambo suggested being in the sun affects temperatures, as well as how much you had been using the brakes and how quickly you take the temperatures after you stop, EG had you been cruising on the highway and got off at a rest stop and took the temps compared to driving on the highway and navigating to a gas station before taking the temperatures.

With that in mind… What was the air temp, had that hub been in the sun, braking to temp read time. Also what were the non braking hubs? I usually see higher temps on the passenger side than the drivers side.

Enjoy your trip up north.

Got to cabin, 126 to 110f. Hotter side was sun side. Good call on the brake lines, I’ll check that. Appreciate all the comments.

From 2023 when I had rebalanced the brake actuator
