I changed the spark plugs in both of my Waverunners in about an hour. Not much to see but here are some pics anyway. I also assembled the intermediate bearing grease extensions for both Waverunners (the bearings are hard to get to in both the FX and GP.

I pulled the swim deck speakers (one is blown but I could not tell which and I’m replacing both anyway). I also pulled the swim deck remote hoping I can fix it (replace the volume and selection knob) instead of buy a new remote.

Brought the boat home to get her ready for a long winters nap. Was planning on this being a quick thing and back to storage. Was just going to polish a few spots of dock rash and top up those spots with a new ceramic coating. Welp I ended up doing a 2 stage polish on the lower half and installed a new ceramic coating on that. Fortunately still have time tomorrow before I need to get her back. Running out of paternity leave and haven't been able to get crap done that I wanted to.


Need to pull the batteries and do the rest of my checks tomorrow morning.

I grew up boating in salt. I was tasked with cleaning/maintaining the boat. So it was engrained at a young age. It was significantly more work keeping up with a salt boat than this one. I will say this is my last black boat. I should have gone with the white/gray/red color scheme for the 2020 model. This is too much damn work.

I definitely agree with the difficulty of a black hull. I tried ceramic coating , it helped but still was not good enough. I just had my boat wrapped with a gloss clear wrap by ceramic pro it’s a self healing film. it was done from the rub rail down to the water line. Made the whole side of the boat really pop. It’s a self healing wrap so even if you scuff it or tear it the wrap will mend itself back together. I’m done with the boating season in NY to see how it works. It will def make cleaning easier and hopefully add a little stess free protection as well. Just a thought.

I always put some dielectric grease on the porcelain of the plugs to keep the coil boots from sticking to the plugs and I see never seize oh no all the torque heads will be upset lol I also use that and always have just a tad on the threads and never have a plug get stuck And for the intermediate bearings I put a hose barb on the housing and run some tubing out away from the cover . And I inject gear lube I never grease those as was discussed many times this avoids pressurizing the inside of the bearing housing and prevents separation of the rubber from the housing and prevents damaging the seals plus the gear lube lubricates the inner parts a lot better as I also do that to my pump bearings and had the original pumps and bearings etc at 850 hours when I sold my last 2- 2014 fxho cruisers .

Beautiful sunny warm day today. Went down to the shipyard to buff the starboard topsides that never were done last year because another boat was parked too close. Tried a one step 3M product and really liked the results using power tools.



It removed light oxidation and restored the shine. Started at the bow and did the first 6 ft.



Worked a little more to the vent thru hull. You can see the difference in the vertical line below the fitting. The reflection of the shrinkwrapped boat and mast next to us is appearing. Happy with what it did for this 31 yo gelcoat.



The reflection changes aft of the vent, duller, chalkier. Will finish this and apply another good layer of wax.

Sold her. 6 years old. Launch ramp situation near us is bad and getting worse. With fuel over $5/gallon here, prices at a premium, I sold her. Sad days honestly. Paid 24k brand new plus tax, sold for 24k 6 years later.

hopefully the maker shits the bed in a year or two and I can get a 24’ for a reasonable price.

Interesting! From the first time I took her out had unrealistic dreams of swapping the TR-1s in my 210 FSH for some supercharged 1.8L goodness!
