View attachment 107756For the member that are pilots here: a few pics of the customizrd interior of a Jeep Rubicon owned by retired female pilot. She said all the instruments work as designed (e.g. accelerometer, altimeter, compass), also attached are pics of the exterior air outlets used to air up their tires after the trail crawling is done.

In my prior posts about the storm damage we had, it is nothing compared to what happened down the valley at the Lamoille River. All the waterways in the area were over flood stage. This picture I posted a couple of pages back... is of Arrowhead Mountain Lake. The picture was taken from the levy adjascent to the gates of the Clarke Dam. US Rt. 7 below the dam flooded and left a lot of debris in the road.




and a boat or at least part of it that came thru the spillway.

Went out to Shelburne Shipyard this afternoon to visit the boat and remove a bottle of red wine from the liquor cabinet that she forgot on the boat. Would have made a mess if it froze and shattered over the winter.
We drove around the yard to checkout other boats and came across this other twin engine jetboat. It is the passenger and provisions ferry for Burton Island State Park in the Northern part of the Lake. This is the closest marina to the island, in Vermont, that can haul out a boat that big. Did you have to do any special foundation work to support all that? Do you have an estimate on how much it all weighs?

I ask because I had a friend with a new log cabin and they chose to go stone veneer because of the weight factor. Being an ignorant city boy I just thought they were all real stone,

I LOVE a large stone fireplace, it just makes a statement that makes me wonder and smile,

Yes, a lot of concrete went into that hole, approx. 12' x 8' x 3' for the chimney foundation. Very shallow to ledge here. 5' frost wall that the radiant concrete floor sits on around the house perimeter, part of that had to be stepped around ledge. The masons had requirements for stone type, shape and size. They helped us one day pick a lot of nice ones for the 8" thick facade. Weight? Many tons.

I just took the family that directions this summer. Pictures don’t do it justice. I wasn’t too excited about the trip but after going... so glad I got to see the beauty.

For those who follow this thread...This past Summer I had posted old photos and newspaper articles of of our boat in the early 90's, my time as a Nautical Archeologist diving on ships from the War of 1812 etc. and other things stashed away for 25 years in a garage that was packed full with a lot of useless stuff, for us, that we threw into a dumpster. This was my ultimate goal for that garage cleanout. The wife is happy, I like it when that happens. This is the first time since I built the garage in 1995 that she has been able to park in here.

@zipper How do y'all like your Subaru? Does it hold up well? Maintenance cost high? We keep cars a long time and put lots of miles on them. Mostly highways back and forth to work.

@GiddYupJoe Because of this trip that my wife and I took to Arizona we've decided to head back in the same direction for a family summer vacation with the camper in tow. We plan to explore a little of the 4 corners region in each of those states. We'll be sure to see the Grand Canyon and take the kids to the Sedona area as well. Really looking forward to going back there to spend more time.
