I can get my mind around, after this experience last year: stopped by the Ford dealership last fall to get a look at the newly redesigned F150, their website said they had just received a hybrid Platinum Powerboost (MSRP >$75K). When I got there to take a look at it, the salesman tells me it's down the street at the body shop for an estimate because it showed up with a big scratch on it. While we're there talking, sure enough the tech comes driving back up in it and it's got a ~4 in scratch on it that was in need of repair. It doesn't matter what it is...furniture, vehicles, boats, appliances, and on and on...nothing's immune to a little damage in transit. The important thing is that it's made right before the new owner takes possession.

Did the salesperson tell you that you had to pay for the 4" scratch? If not, then apples to oranges comparison. The dealer in Idaho basically told me I had to pay for refurbing a brand new boat that I hadn't even seen yet, much less taken possession of. Sure, things happen, but that doesn't explain why they are charging $5500 when pretty much everyone who has posted on this thread and the other thread on 2020 updates stated they paid significantly less.

additionally, I do not believe that the retailer is responsible for intransit damage. Having been a Ford rep in my past life, I can tell you that Ford dealers do not 1) pay for in transit damage and 2) do not charge customers to fix in transit damage. So, not the same thing.

Yeah, I totally missed that last bit about them having you pay for it. You're right, that's absurd.

Hello everyone!

First post here. I have been a long time lurker and decided to finally contribute.

We are looking at getting our first boat. We are in our early 30’s and have two small kids. Our house is not waterfront, but we have the ability to buy a slip in our community private marina, which we may do down the road if our family really enjoys boating.

For the time being, we decided to go with the AR 190 for size, price and the garage storage convenience. We initially considered both a smaller 16” and a bayliner (I know I know!) for our first boat, but decided to go with our 2nd/3rd boat first as many have suggested. Please feel free to add your two cents/suggestions/ideas

Anyways, we just heard from our dealer and got a OTD quote that might help others here trying to make a decision/plan/budget. See below

The out the door price on the Ar190, is going to be $41,239.32.

The extended warranty on that boat is $2000 plus tax for 5 years of warranty total.

You are more than welcome to explore outside financing options. Yamaha offers 2.99% for 60 months, and 3.99% for 180 months for their top tier qualified customers.
Cheers,

Cheers,
Welcome.

MSRP on a 2022 AR190 is $35,899.

If you want to save a few bucks, you could look for a slightly used AR190. Last major change to the model was 2019. If you wait a couple of weeks, post Labor Day, I'm guess you could find a 2019/2020 AR190 for 32K-33K, plus any state taxes in your area.

Just got my buyers order for an AR250 in Texas
79545.40 OTD with a 2k discount if I finance with them.
MSRP 65999
Freight 4100
Make Ready 2900
Final Dealer Prep 995
Trailer in Galva 1400
Cover 960
Discount if financing with them -2000
Doc 175
Title 230
Taxes in Texas 4786
What do you think?
I am looking for my first boat and have settled on an AR250. I have seen similar costs. The freight one is the that shocks me the most. I'm curious if anyone knows if the freight cost is set by Yamaha or is that just another way to bury extra fees for dealer?

2021 AR250's used ones are popping up now with low hours for between $66k - $72k, that I have seen. banks and credit unions will give you new boat interest rates on them. Could be a good way to save some money and guarantee yourself a boat. Plus the last one I saw had a cover and some extra's already. They move quick but I anticipate more will be coming as the season's change.

Just a thought to save some money...

In Las Vegas, 2022 AR190 Out the door: $43,559. It seems like it is supply and demand issue.
Respectfully, this number is kind of meaningless to the rest of us, without knowing the amount of boat sales tax. Don't you have fairly high taxes on boats in Nevada?

Aren’t boats like cars, you pay the sales tax and fees where you register, not where you buy?
Yes, that is why I had earlier ask about the Nevada sales tax. I do not know if this is true, but I have read 6.85%. That would be about $2500 on the AR190 previously discussed.

When folks talk OTD prices, they really need to also note what the taxes are on the boat, otherwise, the OTD number is useless for most of us.

@Jim_in_Delaware I agree with your point, but inversely, I thought you wanted to know the tax $ so you could subtract it out since you wouldn’t pay that in DE. OTD to me includes all taxes and fees, otherwise it isn’t OTD.

Tim,

I think for most of us it would be useful to know the OTD price minus taxes. Depending on which state members live the tax could be $0 or up to 10% of the price. This way we are all comparing like prices to like prices. For example, if you or I were buying a boat in the DE/MD/PA area we would pay our state tax wherever we register the boat, irrespective of the tax rate in DE, MD, or PA.

It is somewhat different when I buy a new car or truck I always ask the dealer the OTD (including all taxes and fees) because sometimes dealers like to fuss with prep fees and in the local area they would collect the tax fees as they usually handle the tags.

Agree with you. OTD is just another “common denominator” that still requires an asterisk.

$1,500 total freight and prep for any model. Anderson Marine near Nashville TN. Salesman Van has been great to deal with. Getting a 2022 AR195 from them.

Wow, that's awesome. Sounds like they are playing the long game. That is over $6000 cheaper than Specialty Recreation in Cour D Alene, ID.
Thanks for sharing.
