When news was limited to a few hours a day, one hour in the am, one hour at noon, and one hour in the evening it was more about real news and facts.
No dvrs, no internet.
Then the 24hour news channels came out and needed to grab more attention and filled their time with ratings grabbers instead of unbiased reporting. Then the internet and social media made it worse with everyone thinking what they post is the only truth.
I miss the 70s and 80s, kids played outside and rode bikes, family time was more common.
Wish there was a super like for your post!

As a young guy I remember there only being the evening news, morning news was via the newspaper. The TV went off the air around 0200 with the national anthem playing to scenes of the thunderbirds flying over the Statue of Liberty Sometimes the evening program would get interrupted by a SPECIAL REPORT and it was something of substance, and was rare. The news programming was originally was requirement to get the broadcasting license from the FCC.

After school we rode our Stingrays to the field where the jumps were so we could smash our gnards on the goose neck and wreck our ankles. We learned how to be “social” in person.

That made me spit out my coffee, 100% can relate to that

To imply that Fox News doesn’t absolutely have a narrative against electric cars is unfair as well.
The whole second half of the article reiterates that and their headline is far more alarming than the FL official’s actual tweet/statement.
Yeah, my point was, if a County official puts out a statement, especially regarding safety, it should be reported by news outlets. My understanding (although I admittedly haven't delved very deep into it) is that multiple officials reported this as a problem. To report it (perhaps without biased commentary) is responsible, to not report it is just apparently biased.

As Florida officials and residents continue to clean up and assess the damage caused by Hurricane Ian, they're discovering the storm has turned some electric v...

It seems a "reputable" news source has finally commented. A little late to the game, but not as late as the reputable main stream media generally are! 😉

Will these lithium ponds destroy the earth when they "blow up"?

It’s probably going to be the 300,000 to 500,000 gallons of fresh water needed to process, per 1,000 lbs of lithium produced, that will destroy the earth. Since the water is unfit for human or animal consumption after the process.

@Mesa50, if only you could remove the impurities by evaporating the water. Or perhaps even better use electrolysis powered by solar and wind to separate the hydrogen and oxygen to feed fuel cell vehicles?

If that’s the case, most environmental concerns are negated through evaporation, which is a natural purification process. You’re probably right.

Bingo! So why not use the ice vehicle that actually will propel us down the road great distances (even while towing), and doesn’t make us late for our next appointment, and is arguably much better for the environment after it dies? TFL on YouTube, just tested the new Hummer, and only managed a little over 120 miles while towing. The range showed over 360 miles when they started. EV’s are terrible for anyone but large city dwellers. The gov wildly misrepresents the number of people living in urban environments, because they have no distinction for suburban. Only rural and urban. This means if you live in a small town, in the middle of nowhere, you likely will be classified as urban… Even if you are more than an hour from the nearest Walmart, and Starbucks. Most people in these small towns, drive an hour or more to work. Like I did, when I lived in the middle of the thumb. These falsely classified urban areas, that are actually rural towns, are about a quarter of the population. When Americans were polled as to what type of area they considered themselves to live in, over 65% said not urban, but suburban. If you lived in Marlette, would you want to try to make it to 10 mile and Gratiot every morning, in an EV, in January, with the heater, lights, wipers, and washer motor, gobbling up your range? Not me.

Such a tired argument. 99% of people don't tow, and driving an hour back and forth to work in a car with a 300+ mile range doesn't matter one iota if you can charge at home. Still plenty of ICE vehicles to choose from if the use case doesn't meet your needs, contrary to popular belief, outside of CA, nobody is forcing you to buy one (and even then, you can pop to the state next door to get one if you want an ICE, if that law ever becomes reality).

The real tired argument, is the one where people throw around the stated range, as though any of them actually travel that far. EV winter mileage reduction, is anywhere between 20 and 40%. This puts northern drivers at risk of running out of power. It’s not only a problem, it’s a dangerous one.

EV is neat and it works for some, it also doesn't work for others. The holy grail of helping climate change and it is better for the environment holistically is one that is over used. What will be interesting is 10 years or so from now looking back.

Saw on Jay Lenos garage last night, methane powered tractors, which i think is a very cool thing for farmers. Dont know the cost difference to diesel tractors but i was impressed.
Haven't been ecstatic with the show lately, seems NBC is pushing electric vehicles a lot lately. Filling at least a few segments with EVs.
