Over the River and through the Woods...A late January drive on the hill section between the horse barn and the house. A little icy, by some standards. But it keeps the flatlanders away.

Slow and steady wins the race in this scenario.

After about 40 years of driving in this (above), I’m glad that I am now a “flatlander” in retirement! 😀

I read an article yesterday that the city of Cleveland had 16 car accidents involving snow plow trucks in 17 days. Now they are trying to see how quickly they can put plows to garbage trucks to keep up with the weather. Be interesting to see the outcome.

That's crazy, cars hitting plow trucks? Or plows hitting cars? One of the funniest things I've ever seen is a garbage truck plowing downtown Philadelphia.

After putting it off more than a year, finally started to work on the flooring for the main floor of our home. I laid about 1,000 square feet on laminate on the second floor of our house right after we moved in. Had the builder just lay sheet vinyl on the 2,400 square feet on the first floor of the house.

Started by pulling up the quarter round molding. With the right tools and little bit of patience, it comes off fairly easily and can be reused after the new laminate is down.

Will probably take me 2 - 3 days to take off the molding. I have to admit, however, that my retirement days are much shorter and have a lot more interruptions than when I was still working! 😄

The way the article was written was cars sliding out of control, hitting the plow truck then putting it out of service.

So, when you live in the Mid-Atlantic and have a 70 degree day in the middle of Winter, what do you do?

You, head to the beach!

Walked the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach with my wife and plenty of my fellow Delawareans. The light grey Ram in the second picture is my truck - we parked four spots from the boardwalk!

Mmmmm. Beeeeeach. A few pics from the dog walk. Odd feeling when a gravel road feels slippery under your feet.

At some point I’m going to have to replace this tire, any guesses on when ??

I’ve had the replacement in the garage for about two years now,
About every day I take the pooch on a 1-2 mile bike ride, sometimes twice a day

The dog is even thinking that tire looks sketchy.

My daughter had her first JROTC competition today in Sarasota. Next weeks is at the University of Tampa. Over all, the school placed 3rd out of 8. And yes, thats a Cleveland shirt in Florida I am wearing.

The salesman said it’s the dealerships owners car and is valued at $1.4m but even if you can afford it is up to Ford to approve or deny your application for one. This one is not for sale. I prefer to think of it as being on “Show-Off storage”.

As for the lightning price, the money man/closer at the dealership told me the prices are lower now because For isn’t making customers buy fully load versions of the truck. There was enough demand for a more commercial version for ford to justify the move.

keep in mind all the information above is from in my case used car salesmen. The first guy telling me how great the truck I was looking at is and the second guy telling me I should buy an extended warranty.
Here we are a about a month after this post and Ford has announced they are discontinuing the Lightening along with all their EV’s. This BS adventure cost the company billions $. My guess $5B or more. EV’s are not ready for prime time!

If the scenario was that I could buy a used lightening for the same amount as I paid for the used Honda Ridgeline, I would still choose the Ridgeline. I have no time to to burn waiting at a charging station, changing my habits so that the vehicle has a charge or worrying about baring mileage dependent on the temperature on any given day. Currently if I want gas I buy it in 10 minutes or less and I rarely wait in a line to get it. The problems with charging in extreme heat or cold need to be fully resolved before I buy an all electric vehicle as do the disparities in price. Paying more for more problems will never make sense to me.

Do you have a link to the news that Ford is discontinuing ALL their EV’s?

At the Ford website, it notes that Ford is cutting Lightening production and will be using about half of the employees to ramp up building for the Bronco and Ranger.
