wait...there's an impeller mod for snowblowers? How have I never heard about this?
We spent about 3.5-4hrs there yesterday. Quick 70min drive south for us from the house to the launch. We put in right near the Chautauqua Belle at a small park I found on Google. Lake is larger than I had in my head, but still not super ginormous. We headed south to start and made it to the bridge before the natives got restless and wanted lunch. Turned around and came back up near the boat museum and tossed out an anchor for a bit.

Yea, compared to the links you just sent, this was nothing. Water was definitely clear, but had some spores floating in it as well. Water wasn't full "bloom" like what those links present at all.
Here's the only other picture I snapped from Sunday. Water is definitely more blue than green up here.
Thought I would drop in and update on the status of the move.
We've been up here almost two months now. Adjusting pretty well really. We got exceptionally fortunate with the location we picked. There are kids EVERYWHERE. Wife is making friends with the other moms while the boys all play together. Going to be (6) boys riding the bus to elementary school just from our little cul-de-sac. Found out we share a wall in the townhome with a Bills coach, then another lives a few doors down. Have a couple of players in the neighborhood as well. Feels fancy to us, but just normal to them I suppose.
We've had the boat out a few times on Lake Erie. In particular it appears I don't know how to choose my days just yet. First trip went well, and we were able to get out on the main lake. Second day, not so much. Had to stay in the inner harbor area due to waves. Not sure what the difference in conditions was, as best I can tell the wind speed was the same on both days. I need to learn and read more. Of course, wife is already talking about a bigger boat so we're not tossed around so badly. I'll take the approval where we can get it
Work is going well. Finally had my first 5 day week in the office a few weeks ago. Feels good to finally settle in. Starting to work on some strategic plans instead of just keeping my head above water. That's good. CEO seems happy with my performance as well, so, overall everything on that front is working out.
We cannot get over this summer weather though. High's in the mid 80's was considered a "heat wave" and the humidity hasn't been above 60% except for a few days. Most nights are cool enough we need a hoodie/sweater to sit outside. Sunroof on the Q7 is open like 95% of the time now, and I'm rarely using the A/C in the car. We're also somewhat taken aback by the REALLY long days. Function of being further north I'm sure, but it's odd to have light in the windows at 6am, and not go away until 9pm. I'm sure all this will change this winter, but for now, we'll take it.
Overall......We're calling it a success and a good decision now that we're mostly settled, unpacked, and just living again. We'll see how we feel 6mo in during the depths of winter. Stay tuned for more!
I thought the same thing. I want wind from the north east, NOT from the southwest. Use the land like a windbreak right?

You probably benefit from the temperature of the lake to keep you a little cooler, but NY does have pretty great summers. And the winters aren't bad if you can find a reason to get outside every day and maybe even look forward to some snow. For me, it's a different version of the wildlife pictures I'm after...a nice change of pace for a few months. We have snowshoes that let us get into the woods and get in a workout while we're on the hunt, although we've barely gotten enough snow the past few years to break those out.
