The 1 liter MR-1 started out at 100 hp and amazingly was revamped to 140 hp and then HO 160 hp

Will Yamaha eventually make the 1 liter TR-1 into a higher than 112 HP edition? Or was the EX TR-1 at 100 HP and then the HO TR-1 to get to 112 HP the only incremental improvement?

The ex TR1 is only rated at 100hp with only a 144mm pump.
The EXR has the TR1 HO and everything else with a TR1, VX or boat is the TR1 HO with 155mm pump the hp rating on the HO is around 120hp

Well, technically there is a 140 hp version of the TR-1 but it is known as the Viper engine and it is in a Yamaha snowmobile model. There is also the YXZ version that is in the Wolverine side by side that has more horsepower than the TR-1 but less than the Viper. Then there is the Genesis turbo charged version 998cc at 172 hp. So some various engines all based on the same block and crankshaft but with other intake tracts and some engines have closed loop fuel injection as opposed to the open loop fuel injection on the TR-1’s.

I was thinking of installing Brian Crower cams that would increase the volumetric efficiency of the engine and bridge the gap between the TR-1 and the Viper engines.

Here are a couple of other threads on getting a little better performance out of the TR-1 engines.

RIVA claims “big gains” with their ribbon delete but at last look did not provide any quantitative results showing these big gains.

One thing to keep in mind about RIVA tuners is that they raise the rev limiter and require lower pitch impellers to allow the engine to rev higher, this increases the stochiometric ability of the engine, add roughly two degrees of timing advance and add a little fuel to pick up a bit of power. There is

This is a good thread discussing the RIVA map tuner, especially posts 44 & 45.

These air filters give a little boost in performance, I picked up 200 rpm at WOT with these.

I also picked up an in-line pulse width modulator that goes in between the wire from the ECU and each injector to add some fuel but I haven’t gotten around to testing it yet.
