2025 SD Jet Pump Disassembly Questions

It’s main purpose is to keep the water out.

572 is a low yield thread locker and sealant, its main function is sealant to keep the fasteners from seizing. It will “dry” so to speak but not harden.
Thanks. I was thinking of using the green I have if I get to that repair but that is very thin and made for wicking. I will add 572 to the list.

The service manual lists all of the specialty lubricants and thread potions to be used on the boat. All of them can be had on amazon. There is a permatex replacement for the 572 as an fyi. I have not used that, I’ve stayed with the 572. One thing I have suggested before is to secure the correct taps and dies for the bolts that you put the 572 on to clean them before re application and installation. Use the 572 sparingly, make sure it gets into the lower part of the threads, you don’t want this stuff piling up on the surface as the bolts are threaded into the transom shield.

Those bolts are soft I sheared one off drilled and re tapped good as new since they are soft they drill out easy. I had removed the pumps on my 2005 a few times no problems the 2017 was only 2 years old when the wear rings swelled the factory loctite bound up and the bolt snapped with low torque

I have used anaerobic sealant on the jet pump mating surfaces pulls apart very easy don't need any possible cavitation from small gaps.

I still need to buy a service manual. Was hoping one would pop up on eBay but no dice. I have a thread restoration kit that does ID and OD threads. Saved my bacon many times.
