I use a 2014 Audi Q7 as my tow vehicle for my ‘16 242 with LED trailer lights and use a 7 to 5 way adapter with the resistor to accommodate the lamp out sensing feature of the Audi. The resistor in the adapter works fine to allow for proper trailer LED light function and recognition of tow mode by the vehicle, but when the vehicle is off and trailer connected, all the trailer LED lights will pulse/flash very lightly. It’s not something you can see in the daylight but at night is noticeable.

Do others using European tow vehicles experience the same? I’m currently using this Adapter.
Just curious if others had a different result with a different adapter (maybe with greater resistance)?

I've towed with my wife's 2019 Atlas and had no issues. When i've connected the trailer (with a standard 7 to 5) the vehicle recognizes a trailer and a status message comes up. No resister used.
