I had solar panels put on my roof last year. 37 of those things up there. Originally had a loan for it but my good wife has payed that off way early. It usually makes more than we use and the COOP gives us a credit that we use at night. have not had a electric bill all summer, right now we have mor credit in the COOP than we are using. Will use that this winter since here in the panhandle of Texas we see a lot of cloudes then. Contemplating 2 Tesle walls in the future.
Your co op is a good one !

I installed my own 18 panel system a few years back. All in I was out about $8K and a week of my time installing it. I pay $10 a month for the PG&E "surcharge" and usually end up with around $100 in true-up credit every year. It was a win/win for me and my area makes self-install fairly easy for inspections and permitting.9DA20688-3383-4076-8BFD-0C56CB86F6D9.jpeg

@adrianp89 few of my neighbor have solar panel and it works well for them, one neighbor recently installed new roof and solar. She is a traveling nurse so she's barely home, I talked to the neighbor next to her and he said she paid $5500 for roof and solar (probably 1200 sqft home). I will ask for the company next time I see her and confirm its $5500 (seems too low to me). I have a pool pump running 6 hours a day and my electric running $200 a month and seriously considering solar too.

Yeah, not likely she could replace a roof for that low, and certainly not to include solar.
