Lets take a ride around Manhattan. . . .

Wow that's awesome. Probably way less chop then of how it sometimes gets in the Barnegat bay.

I would still love to take that trip. I am trying to find a marina farther west on LI that would make the trip easier. Coming from our area makes for a long trip, plus need to hit the ocean to get there. Thought about leave from north shore but heard nightmare stories going through the Hells Gate area.

Hells gate is only a challenge for under powered boats. . . . . .you should have no issues.

Would love to join this trip. We enjoy the upper Hudson frequently between Troy and Catskill, there are some beautiful areas. Occasionally we trailer down to Newburgh and drop in there. It's a really nice trip down to West Point and Bear Mountain. I've been as far south as the Tapanzee but we haven't been all the way down to Manhattan yet. Keep us informed!

This is a 10-12 hour tow for me but if you guys set a date for this year I may join.

Me and a buddy are scheduled for this trip sept 30th. Im coming from north east CT. Where's a good safe place to dump in and not worry about my truck getting stolen.

The public ramp in Nyack NY (near 287) is a good spot for a ride to NYC. It will cost you about $25 to use the ramp and park your truck and trailer until you get back. The ramp is about 1 mile north of the Tappan Zee Bridge. I have launched my 242 here many times and it takes me a little over 30 minutes to reach the northern tip of Manhattan. Note that when you go under the Tappan Zee Bridge you MUST go under the main (highest) section of the bridge where the red and green buoys are located. You must stay away from the white buoys and construction barges that are parked in the area or you risk a ticket from the Westchester marine units that patrol those waters.

I have boated around Manhattan many times and there is always a ton of stuff to see. You will not be dissapointed!

I am definitely interested in checking out New York and Manhattan on my boat. Is the date set for September 30 ? Let me know and I will plan accordingly. I have included @fromrio and @jayasaki138 . They may be interested in this also.

EDIT: Added @0627Devildog to get his input as he stays close by.

Best

I am in for 9/30. . . . . Will post a follow up soon.

I think I would like to join as well. And I will keep an eye out for updates. Thanks

Ok everyone. . . . I spoke to Jim (GM at Patsy's Bay Marina) and according to him he can accommodate just about any number of trucks/trailers/vessels he thinks we'll be able to muster for the 9/30 trip.

However we DO need to give him a number as soon as possible. So if you are planning on making this trip and launching from here please be sure to comment BELOW this post (even if you have said so above) just to confirm.

My plan is to launch at Patsy's Bay Marina and park my truck trailer until retrieval later that day. The cost for use of the ramp/parking is $20 payable the day of.

Here is their website: (http://patsysbay.com)

Here is their location on google maps:

Last time I made the trip we launched by 10am, and motored south. . . . . headed down the East River side making a few stops along the way for the pictures I posted then stopped by the Statue of Liberty for Lunch. Total trip down and back was 3.5 hours. This time I'd personally like to take a trip further east and south. Eastward maybe out past the Triboro towards LaGuardia and CitiField before coming back west and heading down around the southern tip of Manhattan and up the Hudson. . . . But depending upon how many we have and where everyone is putting in I am pretty flexible on this and open to other suggestions. This took me a little less than half a tank last time with a bit of a shorter trip. I expect to use 3/4 tank with the added locations I am looking to explore. Below is a rough outline of where I am looking to travel.

So far looks like we have 5 solid for Patsy's Bay including your +1. Depending upon how many more we get we can adjust the launch times to accomodate a 1030 -11 am departure time to be under way by then.
