Lol....another 2015 242 LS thread..

Not anymore than a head in the front seat. It may be temporary...I might build a custom dash in December/January (our cold season).

The more I look at this 242, the more I love it. Stop guys please....LOL :spam::bag::bookworm:

@Williamsone46 your sig isnt helping either.......

When is someone going to get an AR240 and get on the forum?

Doesn't JBP have one?

I think you're right. @JetBoatPilot when are we going to see some posts and pictures of your new AR?

We are still on the road visiting our Florida dealers this week. Hopefully we can shoot some video next week or the week after.

So far we love it!

So far we love the new boat but have not been able to use it much since we've been on the road showing it off so much.

@JetBoatPilot So...about the fins on the 2015, how much of a difference have you noticed?
Also, I want to do the Seadek, but really want the Yamaha color on the LS....any word on this?

We noticed a good deal of improvement and can see where buying them would help. Now, how much improvement to the average user without as much experience as myself, I am not sure how to quantify that. I did note that when turning into a slip at idle speed without the Thrust Vectors installed the stern washed out much like the previous model boats. With the XL fins installed the stern did not slide nearly as much and I was able to recover without slowing the boat down and adding reverse thrust. Also the response time to recover from steering input was reduced but again I cannot tell you by how much.

Bottom line is that Yamaha has done a good job enhancing their new 24 footer with the AK but the Thrust Vectors make it all the better.

The SeaDek is still up in the air. I have spoken with my contacts at SeaDek and they are working with Yamaha to get us approved to buy that color. Yamaha may or may not let us have it. IF not, I am also working on some new colors from SeaDek that may look as good or better than the OEM stuff so stay tuned for more on that.

I finally got to step in a 2015 242 LS. I like the looks and the console a lot! The service guy at the dealer and I went over the boat in detail and we picked up on a few items that I had not seen mentioned yet. I can only consider the 2105 as compared to my 2010. The noise reduction seems to be due to simply adding more acoustic egg crate foam around the engine compartment (per the dealer). It does make a difference. I like the reworked area for speakers and cup holders up front. There are two extra cup holders on the rear platform which is nice as well. The head compartment is smaller and my one thought is that most of the room is off the right on the entrance which may make a little more difficult to reach stuff. The new door for the head compartment is great! The new areas that took up the space are nice. I like the hinged seat covers but noticed on the storage area for the cooler that when the cushion is up you can't get the ice cooler out. You have to have the cushion about half way down and that makes it very hard and awkward to get the cooler in and out. The captains seat on the passenger side doesn't have the bolster seat that pulls up (but it looks just like the drivers side). The seat on the drivers side did have the bolster but only the middle section comes up leaving about three inches of chair on both sides. For me that would make it difficult and/or awkward to try to stand there even when pushed all the way back. I was excited about the larger area in the front for the ladder and anchor. The anchor access hole is very narrow and would only allow certain types of anchors (Yamaha's being one). The ladder sits forward of the anchor access hole. The Bimini top is about a foot shorter from and back (2 feet total). I asked about the tow rope from the tower and the idea is to simple lower the rear of the Bimini and rope goes across the top. Lowering the Bimini make have some people stoop a little to go under. I don't that in itself is much of a problem. I saw both the black and blue versions. Good looking boats and the new tower design looks great! I think the looks of the boat overall are improved.

@rkluck The noise reduction is a result of increased sound deadening material in the engine bay & fuel tank compartment, different couplers and a reworked firewall.

I've pulled both a wakeboard and surfer and neither time did the rope contact the bimini in it's highest position.

Good to know. It looks like when the Bimini is fully up it would hit and I glad it doesn't. The dealer showed me the deadening material. It is similar to what a lot of people here on this site did. What did you about the cooler? I would have just bought a smaller one that would there.

We are continuing to store our cooler in the head compartment. The area that they put the cooler is wasted as storage if we keep it there. This worked on our 2007 SX230HO and will continue to work on our 2015 242 LS.

I've left the cooler in the storage compartment for now. It works nicely there it just is a little of a pain to remove, which we only do when we get back home. I have a Yamaha Soft-Sided Cooler by American Outdoors that I put in the head compartment that we use most of the time for items we need often, I plan on putting items that are less frequently used in the cooler that it comes with on larger trips when I would need both. Most of the time I will just use the Yamaha AO cooler though.

@JetBoatPilot How do the Thrust Vectors work in conjunction with the AK?

Williamsone46, I love the way the water reflects on the side of the boat! My wife and I love these boats!

I will post details when we are fully production ready. Still finalizing some key features. It works great and we're excited to be able to enhance these new boats!
