Funny you should ask, I put a deposit on a gp1800 without audio three weeks ago. I went into the dealer to get some oil and saw that they took delivery of two with audio this week. As it turns out, the $2360 prep fee doesn’t even include installation of the sound system. Waverunners either come with the audio installed or they don’t. Dealer said my Waverunner should be in by the end of this month.
For the cost of the slampack I would sooner upgrade to the supercharged Waverunner for $2200 and still have money left to buy a DYI audio system and keel guard.
We drove to itapaiva a few hours north of Rio de Janeiro and stayed in the mountains for a 3 day weekend. 1st pic is a bike park called Montanha Azul. We didn't make it far before I broke a few spokes on the GT bike so I was riding my cross country bike. Nice hand built downhill trail and the owner is cool.
The 2nd pic is at a bike shop in town, they have a very nice cafe, a bike shop, and a trail system in town. After a few hours there's 10+ bikes parked here
The 3rd pic is one of the trails that was a steep, difficult to climb to the top. Unfortunately it looks like a fire went through here recently. It also has a white horse walking around and he wouldn't let me pass for a while lol I have to sort through my videos when I have time.
Rio de Janeiro is good for a single guy or a couples trip to visit during carnaval, but it is shut down bc of covid. I've been in brazil total 6 weeks and its been fun, but i'm missing home. I think the moment that I land back in NYC, I will go binge on american foods like hamburgers, waffles, pizza, bagels, and barbecue with corn bread. And I will peacefully drive to these restaurants without super aggressive brazilian drivers. And I will order food without having to speak in portu-spanol-lish (I created this language by trying to communicate in english+spanish) And then probably I will return to missing brazil again lol
The temperature cooled back down after breaking a record high of 63° last week. The last few mornings have been cold, so no sap running now. Good time to move some trees around.
This Hickory will be processed on the WoodMizer sawmill.
And I put a couple of Ash trees up at the Wood boiler.
And then I started splitting. My excuse is...the one that fell over screwed up my timing.
Ok, but you need to know it won't end well for the Oak. I am just glad you did not ask me to swing at Elm. That usually ends in embarrassment and swear words.
Best thing I ever bought a few years ago was a kindling cracker. I can take my oak firewood and split it down to some really nice slender pieces that burn much better.
Context: I’m rebuilding my Waverunner trailer so I ordered a bunk hardware kit (ubolts, brackets, mounting plates) off Amazon. The ubolts are advertised as 2” wide and 3” long, what they sent me was a kit with ubolts 3” wide and 3” long. Here is a pic of the response I got when I brought the error to the sellers attention. WTF?
All the hiking around the woods looking for vacuum leaks in the tubing connecting 5500 taps in the last few days has paid off. In the last 24hrs. I collected 5550 gallons of sap. This picture is of one of my 4000 gallon s.s. tanks after they picked up 3150 gallons yesterday morning. The ice that formed on top from the previous couple of days, sunk to the bottom of the tank and both releasers were pumping in.
I hit 26" on the vacuum guage yesterday afternoon after chasing a few remaining mainlines and fixing the squirrel damage. In the past, my highest was 27", so a couple more to chase down this weekend when it warms up again. It is like finding a needle in a haystack now. 12°F this am. When the vacuum gets up this high you can really see the sap moving. It makes a big difference from even 20" on the amount of sap you get. It takes me 3-4 days of warm weather, walking the mainlines to check the 1000+ saddles recieving sap from all those taps. For reference, I started off the season, March 12 the first thaw, after tapping and before leak finding at 15".
Thanks, 28" max. on the pump with the sugarbush shut off. There is always a leak or two or... in the 200 acres tapped. I am happy at 26" but I know I can find more leaks. I have used around 120 of these fittings to repair most of the leaks I have found from deer and squirrel damage so far in the last week.
