Is this because you have a single bank smart charger? As I have never needed to disconnect DVSR with a dual bank charger.

Okay, not really on the “boat” but on the trailer. Took the day yesterday to break the beads on all three tandem axle trailers, updated two of them including the boat trailer with balancing beads, and installed the new TPMS sensors on all of them. Below is what the trailer towing app shows on the dash in the GMC 2500 that I tow with. Haven’t really used it yet but it’s nice to know temps and pressures in the tires in real time… I often look at radial sidewalls and think “does that look low?”

Not today, but a summary of the last 3 months. Been too busy to post!

Took it to Florida for spring break. Stayed in Clearwater Beach at an AirBNB with dock. Gulf was pretty sporty the whole week, so mainly stayed in the intercoastal.

Got back home from Florida, took it out on local lake for a good flush out, took off out of a cove and port engine cut out and wouldn't start back. Got home, dug into it, lost a timing chain....


Bent a whopping 12of 16 valves in the head. Fortunately the bottom end was fine save a couple marks on the pistons. Next couple months were ordering and waiting for parts, and finding time to remove/reinstall the engine in between league and travel baseball 5 or 6 nights a week and a new demanding job at work...


Got it all back together, fired it up, and had a significant valve train noise.... typewriter ticking sounds... Was determined NOT to pull motor again, so pulled the cams and investigated, and had a valve retainer on the rebuilt head (SBT) that wasn't seated correctly. Got that fixed, and back together again, no more noise.



While I was in there, pulled valve cover off starboard engine to check out timing chain. Starboard engine was replaced at 50 hours under warranty for a timing chain failure before I bought boat, but I had never verified if it had the new (5/4 link) or old style (4/3 link) chain. Luckily I found the new style 5/4 link chain, so felt comfortable starboard engine wasn't going to give up on me anytime soon:


While I had everything apart and open, installed a 2nd bilge in the very back, under the cleanout tray. Rule 800 with a good old fashion float switch mounted on a section of aluminum diamond plate I had in the garage. Plumbed to a 2nd bilge outlet immediately next to the first:


After getting it on the water and verifying port engine all good, fixed a leak I've had for a while where the thru hull fitting for the impeller shaft pass thru in the hull:




Now getting prepped for Bimini in 3 weeks so going over everything with a fine tooth comb!! More updates in 6 months!

Did you get a rebuilt motor or did you just replace the cylinder head from SBT? It looks like you updated the timing chain to the 4/5 link. Are you using the original crankshaft with 3/4 link gear? I'm curious because I've heard of people doing this. I have a 2014 AR192 with 260 hours and it's been great, but I'm always mentally prepared to do this job DIY if it happens.

Rebuilt head only from SBT. Stock bottom end, including crank with the narrower gear. Replaced chain, guides and cam gears with newer parts for 5/4 link. Could of done crank, but it was another $1000+ and splitting the lower end. From reading jet ski forums sounds like its fairly common to leave crank and upgrade other parts without issue. Will definitely be pulling valve cover at least once a season to inspect chain just to be safe.

I can change just the cam gears? It doesn't sound too difficult for me to put the 5/4 chain, guides, and cam gears over the winter and hopefully avoid carnage. I currently pull the valve cover every season, approximately every 50hrs, to inspect each individual link.

VHF Radio install on my 2022 252SE. For power used one of the auxiliary buttons. Shakespeare Galaxy 4 foot antenna with 20 feet of cable attached, which was just enough to make it to the radio. Used a rubber grommet in the tower that looks pretty clean. I also posted a picture of the auxiliary power leads, because in other forums they were pretty difficult to find, putting them right behind the helm would be too easy. You have to go all the way up against the gunnel almost directly behind the actual buttons and you will see two female bullet connectors. I used a male bullet plug into one of those and put the negative into the amplifier negative cable which has pretty thick gauge wire. Seems to work perfectly. Acc button turns the radio on and off.
