For any one you that use umbrella rigs this is an elegant solution to storing them in a small space.

Looks cool!

Noob question, tho: I get this is for fishing... but what does it do?

Oh... so we are now on to my second guess...

You hang swim baits on it and it looks like a school of fish.

Nice! I don’t have to store them often tho. Typically I use them until they get hung up and break off. Then I cuss about losing a $19 lure and use something else :)

I see them sometimes for guys going out to the ledge. There's other types as well. One guy I know who uses it doesn't put hooks on the teaser, but drops another hooked bait behind the school, looks like it fell behind.

That’s a Bailey Rig 7 wire 3 hook rig in the tube… such a better way to stow these Umbrella rigs.

I am definitely getting old. I came in here looking for tips on a better way to deal with the damned umbrellas the wife character has scattered around here. Yeah, I said it, I was interested in actual umbrella storage. FML This is who I am now, I guess 🤷‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️

Alright… finally got around to making up the new two hook rigs I got a while back. I had enough small swimmers aka non hook baits to finish up the two rigs, but had to hit Scheels for the hooked ones.

The rigs come with these cork screw type of holders, I had a bag of solid core baits I picked up in WI last year and those worked with the corkscrews.

They’re about the same size as the largest of the pre rigged swimmers my friend had gotten before. I need to secure some more of those pre rigged ones. And, I need to find a smaller pair of split ring pliers, those are #1 split rings and they were about a booger to get onto the umbrella rigs! Had to hold your mouth just right!

Here are the completed rigs, one with grey silver and one with white hooked baits. Those are 1/8 oz, and I have some 3/32 oz swim baits as well, but wanted the heavier ones first just to try and make sure they will swim correctly, I may try the lighter ones later on.

I’ve got another 3 hook rig coming, may have to get a few more of those as I can use three hooks here in SD, other places, including the Pacific Coast only allow two hooks. They all fit nicely in the storage case I started this thread with, I need to get another one. What a huge improvement over carrying them in a box!
