Which oil filter for 2024 FSH 222 1.9L?

I'm going to make some comments, and they're not going to be nice. You're just going to have to take it, and be okay with that. 🤣

First of all, bullshit. If you know it, you can change it, and a good engineer wants to make things work. Change it, knock it off, be better, Sally.

Second of all, bullshit. Proof:

"That got me to thinking", and you ended up wondering about FRAM?! FRAM?!?!? For the love of all that's holy man, don't tell us you're a stubborn engineer and that led you down the rabbit hole, only to end up settling on FRAM, gotdangit! To save MAYBE $20? Ermagerd, I can't even, with you! Now stop this nonsense, educate yourself, and go do better! 😁

😁😁😁
Fram Ultra is an excellent product and highly regarded on the Bob is the Oil Guy forum. Plenty of industry experts there. Everyone usually thinks the old crappy orange can Fram when the name is mentioned. The XG has synthetic media and silicone anti-drainback valve. 99% 20 microns and above, etc.

The problem i have with fram and a few others out there is. They are prone to rust very easily around the base.
But you can listen to Bob or you can take the advice from the members here that are extremely familiar with these engines.

I personally have changed the oil filters on watercraft, boats, and outboards more times than i could count. I have worked on these things for 30 years and have seen what happens to filters that are not really quality. And fram is not quality compared to other manufacturers. Will it work? Yes would me as a professional in this business use or recommend them? No
Oem is an o-ring seal to the block not a flat gasket and definitely seal better and easier to remove as well

99% @20 microns. Can you link the reference please?

I searched here and online and keep seeing conflicting part numbers for the newer engines. The kits I see for sale include either the 69J or the 5GH filter. Are they the same?

Would like to know which filter is correct and which XG series Fram filter crosses over for this engine. Thank you.
All Yamaha 1.8 and 1.9 engines use the 69J-13440-04-00 which superseded to 69J-13440-05-00.
You can use either one.
The correct part number for the Yamaha oil change kit is LUB-4WTRC-KT-30.

Thank you. Rust prone and different seal than OEM is a big deal. I will definitely keep that in mind.

I'm not great with colors but I believe it is the graph curve at the top. BITOG is serious forum, not candyland, hah.

Thank you for the link.

I’m very familiar with BOTOG

Looks like the guy did not make the video ? Thought it was pretty cool that he ran those tests..I may go back and see their criteria for which other filters to compare the tests against. I read through most of that thread.. started losing interest when the shit slinging started.

So when you go to start using a filter other oem, how are you arriving at which filter number for the non oem filter?
