The rectangular applicator I used was actually a microfiber, not a terry cloth: Viking Car Care 449201 Rectangular Microfiber Applicator Pads I dunno if there's any better or worse product out there like this, but they seem pretty standard. I don't like how hard the foam pads feel, and there always seems to be something that pops up to tear the hell out of them for me. Today, this would have been the license plate screw mounts. The microfiber applicators just stuck a bit, and even if it had pulled out a few threads, the applicator would still be perfectly serviceable.

The "clay" I used was this: Nanoskin Auto Scrub Fine Grade Sponge - it's a clay alternative After using the small version, I just put in an order for the 6" round pads for a DA. I've got a Porter Cable, but I'm also getting the hand strap applicator, as I don't envision using this with a machine (reviews seem to indicate "smears" are easier to appear when run on a DA, and using this large pad by hand will go just as fast as using the machine)

I always seem to have a problem with applying a product when it's supposed to be applied "thin", and the Rejex has been no different. I'm applying it in the shade, and so far, here are the tips I found that have made this a little bit easier (I'll try to remember to add links later for what I used for some things):

Wash the boat AND clay it prior to application, and dry thoroughly.

Using a rectangular terry cloth applicator, add a healthy splooge of Rejex to said applicator and work it in with your fingers really well until it seems to have disappeared. Now add a little Rejex at a time and go to town on your boat.

Apply in some sort of light so you can see if you have a "thin" coat on, or if you just missed an area. I worked with the sun at my back

This may turn out to be a complete mistake, but the wife got a damp washcloth and "evened out" all the Rejex after it hazed over, let it haze over one more time, and then buffed it off. There were spots that she'd never been able to buff off without doing this.

Now that we've finished, it DOES feel slicker than shit through a goose, but I'm hoping our approach will hold up for a while. The alternative for me is to take my buffer to it on the tougher spots. I have a unique issue that will demonstrate quite readily if this will be acceptable or not. Apparently the relatives took a bath in the lake at our reunion and left a ring around the lake 😁 Purple Power got that scum line off, because nothing else touched it

I’m not familiar with purple power.
I find that Klasse (“all in one”) cleaner wax removes stains from gel coat like nothing else I know.

It's a mildly caustic degreaser

Yeah, it's a degreaser. No matter what the name of the stuff or who makes it, it always seems to be purple. Kept the boat in the water for 4 days, and that pic above is the result. Not sure what's in the water, but it's awful crappy, and seems to like to stick to the boat.

So Saturday I finally got to apply my Rejex. All I can say is if you want a shiny boat or car then this stuff is the ticket. My process included a washby hand, Compounding with Ardex VG Marine (Excellent stuff) to get out all of the little scratches from last season, And then the Rejex. I'm telling you, my wife did her hair for church in the side of the boat Sunday morning. The haze in my pics are from my phone, i am not a photographer. On all or the interior (not shown) and gunwales I applied a coat of Ardex Miami Shine. I think the Rejex will be to slick for my kids. The Miami Shine is absolutely the easiest wax I have ever used. The downside is it will need to be reapplied every 6 to 8 weeks but it protects real well.

See the blades of grass reflecting!!!! The hazy is from my phone not boat!

Oh so shiny!!!

What method and tools did you use to apply/remove the Ardex?

Turtle wax after a summer on the mooring.

And after five minutes of cleaning the buildup is mostly gone... I’d say it held up about as well as 3m marine if not a little better. But to be honest i put on more of the turtle wax.

You guys swayed me to order some Rejex. I don’t think the PO ever waxed my boat and I’ve not done it since buying it so looking forward to seeing the shine.

I would be extremely careful with purple power and don’t let it sit on any surface full strength for more than a few seconds. I have faded/splotched paint and damaged anodized aluminum with that stuff.

Boating in a (frequently shallow and nasty) river I can confirm the Rejex is pretty amazing.
I believe @djetok uses that stuff on his fleet of dumpster trucks, no wonder.

Had a busy day with Dawn, Ardex and Rejex. Keeping black gel coat looking good can be a chore.

First I washed with dawn and used synthetic clay bars to remove wax and smooth surface. I had water spots so embedded that the clay bar cleaning wouldn’t get them all.

Next used Ardex polishing compound with my new $80 polisher from Harbor Freight. Used foam pads to apply, microfiber cloths to remove haze. This was the most time consuming step.

Finally Rejex applied with microfiber square pads. Contrary to many of the above comments, I thought it took a lot of product to cover all sides and bottom of 24’ boat. I also did the painted trailer.

@Markk I agree with you, sometimes I regret having black gel coat. Every little nick or scratch is apparent, as are water spots. Its a burden to keep clean.

Did my “Winterization” today after my first season with Rejex. As mentioned on page 2 I did the black bottom portion of my hull up to the water line back at the beginning of the season. Previous years even being on a lift last season using meguiars flagship I still had lake algae build up just from when the boat was being used and would have to pull the boat out to clean the hull at least once mid season. This year with Rejex I had ZERO anything on the bottom hull for 8 months of boating!

Beyond making the hull overly slick for a floating style lift right after application Rejex is awesome. I will be using it again in March. I am considering doing the whole boat with it but don’t recall if it has any UV protection?

Just got done reading 6 pages of very good conversation and points of view, all I can say now is I’m Rejex’d.
Gonna have to give it a try in the spring when the boat come out of hibernation. Should be easy application on a brand new boat that’s been in the water only 2 times this year since taking delivery mid Sep.

Nothing like being Rejex’d 😃

That came out really, really nice. Growing up I only had black cars; bitch to keep clean but looked awesome. Always make you feel proud/happy/untouchable when finished. :winkingthumbsup"

I followed @Markk instructions above, used the same products and had excellent results. Rejex and Ardex work well together, super easy to apply and cleanup. I removed all my decals first, I prefer the clean simple look, used a heat gun and gel style Goo Gone, the 2012 factory decals came right off but after using the Goo Gone, you'll need to wash the boat off to remove the film. Rejex notes to let the product cure for 12 hours, we're letting it sit till next weekend and then going to apply a second coat. Photo below is after the decals removed, I'll post another photo of the hull polishing after the second application of Rejex.

Updated: Second coat of Rejex applied, photos added

I recommend Marine liquid wax of 3M Scotchgard, can use for topside paints, fiberglass and gel coat.

Since I just removed my stickers, I had to strip off the Rejex, and I read the bottle. 12oz seems to be the amount they believe to complete a 25' boat. No idea if that means interior/exterior, the complete hull, or what. I got two applications for 12oz, for the exterior only, from the top line down as far as I could reach, and the swim deck area.

IMG_20200809_140324345_HDR.jpg

This time around, I made sure "thin" was achieved. Any white smears meant too much in that area, simply spread it around more.

When I was done applying it to the entire boat, I went to have a beer, sat down on the porch, and set a timer for 15 minutes. When I went back, I took 2 microfiber towels, one for each side of the boat, and everything simply wiped off VERY easily, similar to drying your boat off or applying Hot Sauce.

I think my first time using it, I applied it too thick in some spots, and I started removal too soon. I will mention too, that I had to use a stripping wash to remove the old stuff, so I'm confident in the protection it offers. This is WAY nicer than the Klasse that I would typically use. When I'm finally done with my bottle of Klasse for the cars, I'll be switching to Rejex from now on.

This is the stripping wash I ended up using after the 1oz-per-gallon of Dawn didn't even phase the Rejex:
