sea water filled the engine compartment and engines.
I removed intake and exhaust manifolds, plugs, all oil.
both engines had a lot of water in the above.
starboard engine would not start locked up pulling it now.
starter good prop shaft will not turn
port running but after 2 oil changes oil still white. no oil coming out exhaust

questions
1 should I pull the head or the pan when I get starboard out
what to expect?
2 oil change am I getting it all out ? sucked from the tank and the Tube that runs down to the pan

Personally, I'd call my insurance company first. They may want their inspector to take a look before anything is removed in the event that it is covered.

sorry we had to meet like this,

Where are you at ?

very confused, did waves wash over the boat filling cabin/engine compartment ?

How long were they underwater ?

Sucking oil from the top usually only gets the oil in the reservoir, if you they were that far under water probably your whole crankcase was filled with water,

not sure about the TR1 since they are a new engine but the older MR1's had a drain screw at the back bottom of the engine that was very difficult to access for normal maintenance but great if you ever had a water/oil issue, I'd be looking at schematics on parts site to see if you have one,

.

Thanks I'm headed out to continue pulling starboard to place it on the dock and will check back before I do anything else to port
They had seawater in them 2 days. I wasn't there they did admit they tried to fire them! Ugg

Who is they who admitted to trying to start it? (and, can they be sued, specially if the attempt bent a valve) . The starter is not super duper powerful, and the engine was not running when water was ingested, so there is still a chance it's just locked up with water. Crank it again with no plugs to make sure all the water is out.

The engine you have running...If you are able to do a full drain great, otherwise keep swapping oil as best you can. Let it warm up. Oil doesn't reach 210 until you run the boat hard for 30+ minutes. Best of Luck getting the other motor started. Time is not in your favor, but the sooner the better.

Dont drive it over no wake speed on one engine or you'll simply flood the non running engine more (unless you clamp off the incoming water line from the jet pump)

I got that I'm not a rookie but we all still make rookie mistakes. Exception there is no longer a motor in starboard I'm clamping off the prop as well.
looks like might be going for a twilight boogie!

And now for the rest of the story!
Port does have a plug aft on the pan and you can get approximately an additional 1/4-1/2 quart out.
sea trialed port. A little noisy but runs good

Starboard pulled the pan. Found this piece of a piston. Narrowed it down to #3 thrown rod. Possible damage to cylinder wall ?able. We will see.4D8A51C3-04E8-48EA-A817-54D349AE4A6E.jpegA0025CD2-5C27-42BD-82A0-BBE6E567910E.jpeg

That looks all bad but I don’t know if it means the engine needs to be replaced or If it’s cheaper to repair it. If the former and you want to get back on the water quickly consider calling sbt (small block technology(ies?) for a rebuilt motor. In addition to $3,500 or so they will want the core of your busted motor. @Babin Farms recently and successfully replaced his first(?) sbt motor with a newer one and may be able to answer any question you may have or give you tips about it. If it’s just a repair I would look for a local pwc shop for a quote and timing estimate.

This is just sad someone had the ability to wreck your boat/season all in a weekend of novice boatership with multiple extremely poor choices/events... I hope you get the motors pulled and righted by next season

@dadramjet , I hope you get everything sorted out soon but in the mean time, I have to ask, what happened?

It’s family all good we al when we where younger tried to make it right and screwed something up. But many times we came out smelling like a rose and no one knew the wiser.

Apparently the boat was shored off the gulf. Waves came over the back. The bilge plugs that keep the sections separate and let the deck drain itself where opened at some point and never closed. I pulled 1 1/2 gallons of seawater before hitting oil out of starboard. Intakes and exhaust both flooded with water.
