Hello, I have been trickle charging my batteries and I went to hook everything up today to run the boat and everything works minus the dash panel monitor (instrument panel). I check the fuses in the engine compartment and by the batteries but didn’t find any that were blown. Anyone experienced this? The boat also beeps steadily with no key in the ignition and everything off. Are these related, anyone have a manual for these FSHs? Thank you

When you say everything works but that display panel does the engine crank and start?

If not, do you have access to a multimeter and see aprox 13.6 volts on each battery?

Do you have a emergency jump or parallel switch you can try?

Have you tried to disconnect and reconnect your batteries? That can reset the processor in that Connex.

I'm not familiar with your exact boat but I'm shooting for the basics.

Yes it will crank and run everything works but the panel. I have not tried disconnecting both batteries and reconnect

I would try the power down reset. I believe that my tachs work off of the connext as well. Does your tachometer work? Are the connections to the back of the Connext screen intact?

All gauges go through that interface dash panel, which is not turning on. The connections on the back are good I even unhooked it to check for corrosion but it all looks brand new.

Ive read some other threads regarding the Connext. I wonder if Yamaha Customer Service would be helpful or dare I suggest calling your dealer? Maybe someone could chime in with some other suggestions?

my connext was fried from a voltage surge Black screen on connext and no power to the tachs but everything else functioned. Apparently the connexts are extremely sensitiveto voltage spikes. My dealer replaced it under warranty but it took a long time as the units were on back order then.

I got the impression from the dealer that is a known issue. I think it happened when I was reconnecting my batteries after the winter. Nothing out of the ordinary when I was doing it but next time I tstarted it up, black screen and no power to tach’s. Still don’t know what I should have done differently

what year was you FSH at the time and what year did it happen in? This sounds more like what’s going on and it is this is crazy. If it is sensitive one would think that they would install something to protect it. I have an extended warranty on the boat and it says it covers all electrical gauges. I am hoping that covers this. I am just trying to eliminate everything and try fixing myself before dealing with dealer drama

Mine is a 2019 sx210, not a fsh. Not sure if it’s the same connext but assuming it’s similar. It happened to me last year around this time.

I wrote this and still haven’t been able to take it to the dealer because it is a drive away, but I did call them and they said it’ll be about $200 to diagnose and then $700 for the part of it is the problem. They don’t want to deal with my third party extended warranty company so now I need to go somewhere else. I feel like just paying the damn $700 for a new screen. I am almost sure that is the problem

You mentioned you have an Extended warranty and then also mention that the dealer doesn't want to deal with it. Do you have the Yamaha "YES" Extended Warranty or another company. Also, if it is another companies warranty, won't they reimburse you for everything if the dealer does it or if you replace it yourself?

yes I actually found it for$100 cheaper than the dealer. It is through another warranty company and the Yamaha dealer said that they’ve been burned in the past and does not want to go threw it even though all they have to do is tell them the problem and they authorize it and then they can do the work I pay cash and get reimbursed. They still said no. I am going to call the warranty place tomorrow and ask again if I can do it myself but last time theysaid it has to be a licensed shop. What a pain.

Sorry you’re having drama’s with your third party warranty company… I bought one for my truck from a company called carchex, they are the freaking worst. I tried to make three claims with them, each time they denied the claim. Also, each time they were non responsive to both the service advisor and me. The last incident was the straw that broke the camels back. Took the truck in, dealer found cracked exhaust manifold, in the process of fixing it, two studs broke and were replaced by the tech doing the work. Carchex refused to pay the claim as they cited the clause that any repairs caused by broken fasteners was not covered. Called explained the above and was told they’d call me back. No call back, several calls and attempts to talk with supervisor, each time, “the supervisor will call back” this was to me and the dealership.

As per the contract I wrote and cancelled the contract. What a monumental waste of my time.

My unsolicited advice, take it to the dealer and have them fix it without involving the third party warranty company. Your boat will be up and running and you will have the Yamaha warranty on that repair. If you want to keep that warranty company for something catastrophic do so. Or submit a claim to them and if they don’t pay, cancel your warranty, get refunded the amount you have paid already, and just put the premiums refund you are paying in the bank for a hopefully never rainy day.
