Everything I read says the 72" is the best option. 84" is just that much more to get in the way.

72” is plenty! I’ve never had an issue with mine coming out of the water and we’ve been in some pretty heavy chop at times while using the gps anchor function.

I went through Hodges Marine but I don’t know about stock and shipping restrictions. They were super fast on turnaround and shipping though for what it worth. Will definitely use them again for other boat goodies in the future.

NMEA 2000 network installed.
I attached a screenshot of what audio looks like on the Simrad.
It's pretty nice!
It gives full access to the EQ and zone controls, subwoofer etc.

I also connected it to our Connext screen, but it's not showing up as a device on the Simrad so Yamaha may have it disabled.

Got a throwback question about your NMEA 2K install. I'm about to install mine and was wondering where you connected the power? I see what looks to be positive blade quick connects on the accessory switches (didn't put a meter on it yet), but where did you connect your negative power wire?

From what I remember, the power for the factory Wet Sounds amp, being fed with a #10 red and black.

Red being 12v positive, black 12v negative.

I took that amp out obviously, and used the feed for my new kicker head unit.
Then I used a couple in line wire t-taps afterwards to grab power for NMEA 2000.

Soon I'll be bringing that feed into a new small accessories fuse panel, for the various things I'm adding.

Thanks. I bought the Motorguide NMEA 2000 Gateway which requires you to have the motor deployed and with gps lock before powering up the NMEA network to get the full functionality, so I’m putting it on one of the accessory switches.

I'm installing a grommet near the trolling motor power plug that I'll run a longer NMEA 2K drop cable though. This way I keep the cable tucked away when not in use. I didn't get to finish installing this weekend but here's what I bought to connect the motor to the NMEA 2K network.

Ancor Marine 5m Drop Cable
Motorguide Gateway Kit (not necessarily required but I wanted the extra functionality this gives)

ordered my motorguide on Thursday from trollingmotor.net and it come in today.

I figured since I'll have everything torn apart to install the trolling motor, I might as well do everything I want at the same time.

So I've also ordered a VHF radio and antenna, on board battery chargers, and a few other misc items.

Hopefully I won't need anything else.
I'll post walkthroughs of the installations.

coinicidently, I just ordered a vhf and antenna. I went with the Shakespeare galaxy 5400-xt 4 footer and the standard horizon gx2400. The radio is back ordered, so hopefully it comes by the time I get my boat out of storage (mid-April). what did you wind up getting?

I went with an Icom M330G VHF with built-in GPS.
Same antenna basically.
One of these days i'll get to installing it along with my trolling motor.

I've only taken it out once but really like it so far. I'm hoping to put more hours on it this weekend.

I got the SS-7-UHD mount and the long version of the BMAP-RE extension adapter to clear the rub-rail.
