@Bmann87 High oil levels will could cause performance loss too. That pic doesn't really show anything. If you can, a sample for an oil analysis will show the condition of the oil and potential problems. In the mean time, you can change it out to get rid of any potential fuel dilution while waiting for the test results.

I read about some fuel test in another thread. I need to look into that.

I just ordered an oil change kit however if it is leaking gas I will have to do another oil change again. Maybe the best route would to get some diagnostic tool? Debating on buying a YDIS to see if there is any injec

Did you test the boat before buying it?

Did you ask the seller about the lack of power issue?

Did you check that the supercharger air inlet hose isn't kinking under load?

Didn't notice any of that until I got on the forums abs started researching to speed.

I'll have to check the supercharger inlet hose. Going to change the oil, swap intercooler and ribbon delete next week. If there's gas leaking into the oil I'll know pretty quickly after a fresh oil change. Not a single mechanic available for atleast a month... Depressing.

Most of the consensus on this forum is that the ribbon delete for the SHO and SVHO engines isn't worth the work. Most of the successful ribbon deletes have been done on naturally aspirated HO motors (190 series and 240 series boats).

Have you tried pulling the air filter out and running it that way? You’ve stated it looks clean, but it is highly probable with that high oil level the air filter has been clogged with some oil.

If you had a leaky fuel injector that was causing fuel dilution in the motor oil, the spark plug for that cylinders’ spark plug would be dark.

I should have been more clear. Pull them out when you do a test run and see what happens, then you will know for sure. There has been more than one member that had their air filters get oil impregnated and caused poor performance.

I was thinking about this. Did you see what impeller is in the boat? You bought the boat used? It's possible the previous owner put an impeller with a bad pitch. Its easy enough to check. You can shine a light in there and see the finish on the impeller. The OEM impellers have a dull grey finish and all the aftermarket have a polished look.

Adjusted throttle cable
Pulled the Air filter (removed and tested, gave me about an extra 100, no real difference)
Changed the oil, smelt like fuel, replaced with only 3 quarts before it was at the top line (pulled out 3.5 qts)
Just got my oil test kit today will be sending it out.


Heres what Im doing next:

Going to the dealer the 14th to get a diagnostic
Swap out the SHO to the SVHO intercooler (already have it sitting, potentially could be a cause too)

Summary:
The boat runs okay. Honestly, I wouldn't have known any different if I didn't get on the forums and research more RPM and Top speed review. Will post more updates as they come

Did you verify the speed with the gps?

edit: nevermind, you said the RPM is low

another edit: Was the previous owner mechanically inclined? Do you think he tried to delete the ribbon and left the rubber sleeve there and now its blocking airflow? Now I'm just thinking of random things

Also can you get 1 of those inline ignition testers. It plugs into the coil pack and then to the spark plug. That way you can monitor the spark energy when you're at full throttle and see if there's anything weird going on in 1 of the cylinders.

Another idea, do a compression test on the cylinders

Take off the intake hose to the intercooler and see if its blocked up with shit. My original SHO intercooler looked ugly inside

Update: The dealer appointment for delayed so I said screw it Im going to do the ribbon delete and SVHO intercooler swap.

In the process of removing the intercooler and throttle body I felt like the surfaces of both were a bit on the oil side almost sticky. I can only imagine this is also likely going back into the engine possible. This led me to conclude likely its from the crank case breather and probably gumming up the super charger and intake side of things.

Im going to but a breather filter on the end and then cap the air filter box. FYI- I also removed the air filter as its more dirty than initially thought.

Im looking to get it out of the water tomorrow with the new intercooler and ribbon delete, and I am hopeful this will get me back a couple hundred RPM thus increasing the top speed.

ALSO: Last time I took the boat out I ran 87 gas, half tank, by myself, with air-filter removed and touched 42mph (never saw that before). This gave me alot of hope and now believe it actually runs better on 87.

You are not the only SuperCharged 19 with lack of rpms with no apparent reason good luck on your investigation and continue to post your progress.

UPDATE: I deleted the ribbon and everything changed. Immediately I knew it was different. Throttle response was crazy and I got to 7800 rpm top speed of 51 me and my son with half a tank.

Boat feels totally different! It was that dumb ribbon the whole time apparently choking off the airflow! After heat soak I was around 7200 at 46mph. Still 10mph and 1k rpm gain!

You replaced the intercooler correct? There was a thread a while back wherein folks were having major oil fouling in their intercooler…

Intersting. The intercooler seemed to be just that oil fouled. Was tacky inside mine however I tired replacing it with the SVHO and the OEM intake tube wasn't even close to fitting, I dont know if I need one that comes off the SVHO or what but when I bought it I just got the intercooler not the intake tube. At any rate I put back in the stock one but really looking forward to minimizing that heat soak.

Definitely way more enjoyable in everyday and the acceleration is really strong now. . Thank for the help around this thread. I'm going to update the next couple of times out
