Since many unlucky ones right now are getting ready to put their boats to bed for winter *sniff, sniff*, I figured I'd share Project Farm's multi-year fuel stabilizer review.

For those that don't know this channel, it's a wealth of info! Very practical and pretty darn thorough. Obviously no one person can test everything perfectly, but it sure as hell beats what most people do.

If you want the final answer, go straight to 14:20. In short, Sta-bil won by a decent margin. But he does re-mention at the end how none of them were great. Just better than not having stabilizer. It won't save fuel that's very old. But I think most people know this.

Enjoy!

And there you have it…. Sta-bil takes the win with zero corrosion and ran the genny without help.

The corrosion on the metal is a result of oxidation, oxidation needs oxygen, oxygen is part of water, and water bonds instantly with ethanol, this proves there was water in the ethanol/gasoline, and Sta-Bil managed to stave off any corrosion.

Repeating this test with non ethanol fuel would be interesting to see, or the VP small engine fuel.

I like this guys channel, real world testing and results. The other one I remember is the test he did on two stroke oil.

No third party independent testing using ASTM standards

I’ve got almost three year old non ethanol gas treated with Amsoil fuel stabilizer in my Toy Hauler generator gas tank, the generator starts right up after sitting for months at a time, runs smoothly and picks up all the loads in the RV with aplomb. The gas still smells good as well.

Edit: Part of my winter prep this year will include the Toy Haulers generator gas tank as it is at 1/4 full right now, so I’ll be putting in 91 octane non ethanol with Amsoil fuel stabilizer and filling the tank up before winter sets in.

I almost shared this video, you beat me to it. I have watched a majority of his tests and he does as good of a job as one guy can do with most. I have bought many of his recommended products with great success.

It is 100% proof, there is nothing that can save old gas. But that corrosion difference will probably move me away from Seafoam on my carburated engines from now on. After purchasing three more bottles that were on sale last week (sheesh)

I still will dump it in my FI engines for winter storage.

Well I guess I'm going to quit using Star-Tron and switch to Sta-bil.

It looks like Star-Tron did a good job as well, corrosion wise.

I think a person has to remind themselves that we are saying Brands, and not the actual Brands product. ie, StarBrite as a hull cleaner is a Kleenex statement, as StarBrite makes dozens of hull cleaners. So blanket statements do not apply.

Same goes for Sta-Bil, they make loads or products, and one may apply more for ethanol treatment, stabilizer, octane booster etc. The only one that probably doesn't apply to is Seafoam. I think they make the red/white can, and one in a teal/white can for marine use. But their product line is pretty limited.

I tried to read the actual product he was testing from those brands.
