2023 195S - Low top speed

I picked up a 2023 195s last month. Its been fun so far, but I have only been able to get it up to 36 mph, which seems way low compared to the advertised. The dealer said that they did the maintenance for the prior owner as well. It only has 36 hours on it, several of which are mine.

I tested it out again today before trying to troubleshoot. I got 35 mph at roughly 6890 rpm. I see others saying they get into the 7500 rpm range, but this is not climbing higher. Another data point if needed is 25mph at 5860.

Running ethanol free 91 octane.

Is there anything that I should try? Its only been in the water a few weeks and the hull is pretty clean. I'll take in for warranty work if needed, but wanted to see if there are first steps to take.

Pull the intake off of the supercharger and see if you can spin the wheel both directions.. if you can the SC sprague clutch is broken.

36 is definitely an issue somewhere. In my 2022 I can get 45 in real world usage. From what I have read that is even on the lower side of normal.

Take your phone and snap some pictures from under your boat, looking up into the pump tunnel and at the impeller and post them back here. You may be experiencing some power loss due to missing sealant and/or a worn impeller.

I'll have to bring my towing car next time I visit to pull it out if needed.

You are definitely low on rpms especially for that altitude.

When was the last time you changed the spark plugs? If it is not known, and I don’t care if the dealer said they did it, then throw in a new set of properly gapped spark plugs. These engines are notorious for not running right with worn spark plugs.

Have you checked your air filter?
I’ve seen an instance where the sound proofing inside the engine bay had come loose and was leaning up against the air intake causing a restriction only when the engine was at full throttle so check all of that.
Next time out, make sure the air box is clean and pull the air filter and run it and see what happens.

I'm working from the boat this afternoon. I checked the filter while I was down there, looks brand new. I'll pop it out and see how it runs after I'm out a meeting. I can grab some spark plugs and replace.

Be sure you check the gap on the plugs.

I meant the SC wheel… this is the most common cause in the SC 19’ boats for low rpm’s and low speed. While the rpms you reported are above the 5500 usually associate with broken SC sprague clutches.

Also check the oil level and make sure it is not too high.

No luck. The throttle definitely tighter though, which is nice.

I pulled the air filter. Got it up to 37 at shade over 7000.

The oil looks a tad high. Its definitely clean oil, kind of hard to tell on the dipstick.

Oil level is definitely high. Its about halfway up the bent part on the stick. I'll have to invest in my oil change kit before I thought I'd need it.

Half way up between the hash marks, or half way up the dipstick?! Yeah, high oil will do it for sure...

When I change oil I tip the trailer bow down to get the most to the vacuum pump. Then level the motors with the trailer jack and a level on the motors themselves.

Then I put in 3.5 quarts exactly. Oil is just about 1/8th inch over bottom hash.

Btw, you have RideSteady already installed. You could turn that on to RPM mode and crank up the RPMs all the way, then see how high the actual RPMs get. Gives you another data point against the throttle cables...

Is there anyway that ride steady device could be interfering with maximum RPM? I thought that that device had the ability to control the engine speed all on its own so if there was a max speed or max RPM limit set then that could be keeping the engine from revving all the way, and or a max speed setting
