is it possible to put a 2018 242x 12” touchscreen system in a 2011 242 Limited S?

Not seen anyone do this, it would not be a simple thing to do, and would require some expensive parts.....but likely "technically possible"

If it were possible, you would have to replace that entire side of the helm. The shape of the dash and inserts look to be completely different. Or at least they are on the '18 242x versus the '17.

This might work but at very prohibitive time and cost. You would need to buy every canbus connected module. Essentially make a new wiring harness complete with the right termination resistors in the right spots. If the intention is for the X features as well then the throttles, bucket servos, and ballast parts/controllers would also be needed. All of that is assuming the engine can bus programming and ECM pin out are the same. You could get 10-20k into this just to find out that it won't work.

Much easier, and cheaper, to just build your own custom dash, with a touchscreen in it, capable of doing what you actually need, and keeping it as a standalone system from the rest of the boat electronics. I've thought about something like this in the future.
