Just seeing this for the first time so thought I would share. Pretty cool I think.

Alright. I See what it does, the question is why use it? Is it that hard to pull up your anchor? Of course I only anchor in 20' or so of water usually around here. Educate me please..

I think it can work for anyone, regardless of depth. The ladies in the video indicate that one of their lines is 300 feet. Their boat does not have an open bow and no guard rails to hold on to, so pulling up an anchor is difficult. With this approach, the ball pulls it up and allows the anchor to float, so all they have to do at that point is reel in the line. It takes all the weight off of it. That would be nice for an old guy like me. That’s my take on it.

Ah, makes sense. Still learning a lot. :)

Basically turning your anchor into a slip bobber system.

I anchor up in 5-10 feet of water quite a bit, I'll have to get one of these...lol No, if I were in deep seas, that little trick would be priceless. Very intuitive way to pull anchor without spending much energy. I like it.

We use these in 50' and deeper. The best setup now is trolling motors with spot lock. Nobody wants to throw a anchor anymore.
The anchor balls are used on the bigger boats with heavier anchors more often than on the 20 footers.

I have one to mark the location of my second anchor off stern. I have walked into many anchors in my day and vowed once I owned a boat to not be that guy.

I would think bigger boats would use a windlass? Seems this is for boats that aren't big enough for a windlass that anchor deeper than 50ish feet. I can see how this would be much easier than manually pulling it up!!! But you'd either need a big storage locker, or a pump it up every time you want to use it....
