Battery question here. I have a two Battery set up. I run two amps off the start Battery till it starts to die, then I click it over to parrallel. Question is, should I just run the switch on parrallel from the start. Am I straining the first Battery, it seems to only last a few hours where it used to run a lot longer. P.s. I also have not checked the water level yet.

Lots of different factors to think about. What age are the batteries? What size are they? Deep cycle or not? How do you charge the batteries?

I'm curious, why do you run your amps on the start battery? I use my start battery only for starting. My house battery is deep cycle and I run my 3 amps off of that.

I actually turn my start battery switch off if I'm running things for a while. I might be a little paranoid because I've been stuck with a dead battery before but I would never run them in parallel unless I had to.

I'm not a big battery expert but I'm pretty sure that running a lead acid battery until it dies is not good for it. Might be less true if you switch to another type like AGM but hopefully an expert can confirm.

Please explain your two battery set up, what type of switch(es), does it have a DVSR / VSR?

Echoing @Babin Farms, do you have an onboard charger that you plug in while at home? Sounds like you may not.

What are the voltages you are seeing on your batteries?
