Holy hell have I had a day. Seen on line that Yamaha had a deal on yamalube kits. Unfortunately their computers cut off at 2009 and they couldn't help me so I've come to you fine people that probably have more knowledge anyway considering I spent an hour on the phone with Yamaha and no one had a clue how to find what I needed.
Looking for the best place to get an oil change kit for my SX230. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

My understanding is it would be the same kit for 2007 -2009. I will look and see if I can find the kit# I buy.

K&N ( KN-303, I think ) oil filters and I use 10-30 Valvoline oil. My motors get a work out through the summer and they still do great.

EDIT: The K&N site says a KN-204 will fit but I could swear that I have a 303 on my motors right now. I was trying to find the differences but.......??????

Yep, I am running the KN-303, they are just a little bigger than the 204s.

I use Purolator PureOne filters (PL14610) and Valvoline Max Life Semi-Synthetic 10w-30. Pretty much any good quality oil and filter is going to work.

The MR1 motors in our boats are marinized motorcycle motors. They have been running quality brand named oils & filters for decades. There is no need to buy special kits. I use the same as @Julian, brand named oil from Walmart and KN303 oil filters.

Like the others have said there's really no need for the "kit". You just need a quality oil filter like the K&N and a quality name brand oil. I've run K&N filters in the past and the last several years I've been running Hi-Flo filters and Belray mineral oil that I've been getting at a performance bike shop. Nothing wrong with this combination. This year I'll be running the same filters but I'm switching to Valvoline full synthetic. It's really all a personal preference and sometimes a lack of choices, but you need to stick with quality products.

I've been running Hi-Flo filters

EXCELLENT filters for the price. We use these here constantly. They are available for all yamaha models and the 1.8 have the CORRECT metric thread ( not a 3/4 american thread that "works" on the metric. )

PS: you do know that HIFLO mfg's the filters for K&N's motorsport line ;)

I didn't know that! That's cool to know. I could have picked up K&N's at the same place, but they were almost twice the price. What I got were about $9 each.

Yamaha filters and Pennzoil from Wal-Mart.

This thread reminds me that I need to stop by the Yamaha shop on the way home from work one day this week...

Which K&N filters are people using on the 1.8s?

Thanks guys. This place is fantastic. Thank you all very much. Next time I'm not going to waste my time. Just going to come here. Thanks again everyone.
