So, ever since last year when I spent a night in my boat at a rest stop waiting for the 3am sockeye salmon opener I have wanted some sort of a tent (not as cool or expensive as the tent @Julian had made for his former boat). This spring I found some 16'x16' waterproof backpacking shelter tarps, specifically: http://www.amazon.com/Kelty-4082021...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I used suction cup hooks on the hull: http://www.amazon.com/Ook-Impex-Sys...sr=1-3-catcorr&keywords=suction+cup+hooks+5lb I got them at walmart for $1.67 per pair. I used them mostly as a test and will look for something a little more sturdy. Although they have held for 3 days now with some pretty good wind!

I use the bimini as the support to hold the tarps up and each tarp covers half of the boat with tarp to spare. It will be interesting to see how hard it is to set up on the water, but as of right now I'm pretty excited about spending a night or two in the boat anchored in a bay!

That looks pretty good. I've always wanted to this, you may have just inspired me to give it a try. I'll be waiting to hear the results of your water trial.

You might want to get some fly screen material and either cut some windows in the tarp or just use it down the back as it could get pretty stuffy in there....but cool idea and execution for sure!

Ya, it was pretty warm in there when I opened it this afternoon for the picture from the rear. I'll have to look into providing for ventilation.

Looks like a great alternative!

Great alternative and I like the idea of adding some screens or other way of getting some air in there.

been thinking about this too. Really want to do something similar. When anchored over night, you need to have your anchor light (all around white light) visible and working all night. How would you do this in your set up? Seems like you need to set up some type of battery powered light on the top of the tent. This is needed isn't it, if anchored over night?
